TODAY'S GATE TIPS:

Friends, you may be at MASTER level in Drilling, Reservoir or production the major subjects, but donot leave any subject unread. Nobody going to ask u how many marks hv u got in drilling or reservoir in GATE EXAM when ur result is declared.. your GATE score will matter the most..

And sometime you donot know, GATE can ask very easy question from the subject u are excelling so hard & mastered and easy to avg question from the portion u hv left unread and in rare cases even weightage of the subjects may also change its trend fromt the past years.. So prepare accordingly. Do not leave any portion unread. Even for subjects like HSE, Latest Trends just get the basics and study subject based on Gate syllabus. You dont know GATE can ask very easy basic questions from these portion with increased weightage.

⚡️Determining wettability of a Rock:⚡️

It can be done by analyzing saturation curves.

Analyze saturation curves: Saturation curves plot the saturation of a specific fluid against the capillary pressure. Pc is the pressure difference across the interface between two immiscible fluids.

Water-wet: If the saturation curve for water shows that water saturation increases as Pc increases, it indicates a water-wet rock. In other words, as Pc increases, more water fills the pores of the rock.

Oil-wet: If the saturation curve for oil shows that oil saturation increases as Pc increases. In this case, as Pc increases, more oil fills the pores of the rock.

Mixed-wet rock: Sometimes, a rock can exhibit characteristics of both water-wet and oil-wet behavior. Saturation curves will show a combination of increasing water saturation & increasing oil saturation with increasing capillary pressure.

Expertise in petrophysics and reservoir is very useful.
