We know, Petroleum Engineering students in India are going through a difficult times.
Before GATE in Petroleum Engineering, recruitments were largely based on good connections and University relations through campusrs, & Getting into a PSU through campus placement is also much more easier than doing it by all India exam. But still when GATE in PE started to happen in Petroleum stream from 2015, that gave hope to those who were waiting for a fair Indian level examination to recognise them and also for PSUs to recruit them largely on the basis of their knowledge and concepts. But then also, just after one year 2016 came and IOCL, MECL who recruited through GATE PE-2015, stopped recruiting from then till this year!. Now, GATEPE aspirant are only left with ONGC-the only PSU that recruits Petroleum Engineers, that too with very few seats(50 or so).

It is very sad that we ourselves also could not get any solid news about 2021-recruitment from ONGC officials & HRs even after the GATE-2021 examination.They are simply saying management has not yet decided & that recruitment schedule is not finalised yet. Even GATE PE2020 toppers are waiting for their process & interviews & we do not have any news about whether ONGC will recruit via GATE 2021 or not yet. & How will they do that with Gate-2020 guys. Now, what about those students who prepared for the GATE exam by day and night. We know that many of you did not take your campus placement seriously believing that you will do excellent in GATE after preparation. But things have changed after 2019.

On an end note, Petroleum Engineers, we would like to tell you that even though we should be positive about ONGC recruitment, but you should not be entirely dependent on GATE exam leaving behind your campus placements guys. Think about it now. And you should be little more active making your strong alumni connections & in job search platforms.

About ONGC intake via GATE, we seem to be helpless for getting inside company news this time, but if you are having anything to say, please give your suggestions of what we can do next. Your valuable suggestions & opinions will be looked upon and we will certainly do something about it.
