107 years ago today, Leo Frank received the death penalty to which he was originally sentenced for the sadistic rape and murder of 13 year-old Mary Phagan. Georgia Governor John Slaton incredulously commuted Frank's death sentence to life imprisonment after such a move had just been denied by the Georgia Prison Commission. Slaton's law firm had merged with that of Luther Zeigler Rosser in 1913, lead criminal defense attorney for Frank, creating an egregious conflict of interest that Slaton refused to acknowledge.
Jews have attempted to blame Jim Conley, a black man, for the murder. In reality, Conley was likely Frank's accomplice, who was expected to take the fall for the Jew. After Conley gave 16 hours of testimony over 3 days as to the longstanding pattern of perverse sexual behavior by Frank, Frank's attorney's demanded it be stricken from the record. The judge refused, Frank was convicted, and justice was served.
