Etiquettes of supplicating to Allãh.pdf
The points on du’ā mentioned in the lesson can be found here.
In this pic are demonstrations of how one should sit in the prayer as well as examples which are in opposition to the sunnah.

The pics in the top half are examples of how one should sit in the prayer.

⏹️ The example on the top right is a manner from the sunnah that a person sits in during the prayer, other than in the last tashahhud.

⏹️ The example on the top left is a manner from the sunnah that a person can sit in between the two prostrations.

⏹️ The examples between the two mentioned above are different forms of sitting in the last tashahhud. This manner of sitting is called: At-tawarruk which we covered last night.

Ibn Hazm Al-Andalūsī rahimahullāh said: “And let the one who belittles sins, relies on procrastination, turning away from the obedience his Lord; that Iblīs was in Jannah with the close angels, and due to only one sin that occurred from him he became deserving of eternal damnation, eternal torment, became the accursed shaytān and was removed from high status”. (Tawq Al-Hamāmah - The ring of the Dove by Ibn Hazm, 1/285)

Sufyān bin Uyaynah, rahimahullāh said:

“Do not abandon du’ā and do not be prevented from doing so by what you know about yourselves. Allāh The Most High responded to Iblīs, who is the worst of creation”. (Shu’ab Al-Īmān, 2/385)

Piety of the parents benefits the children.

Allāh ﷻ said:

“And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town; and there was under it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man…” (18:82).

Ibn Kathīr rahimahullāh mentions in his tafsīr regarding Allāh’s statement:

(“And their father was a righteous man”).

“This indicates that a righteous person’s offspring will be taken care of, and that the blessing of his worship will extend to them in this world and in the Hereafter.

This will occur through his intercession for them, as well as their status being raised to the highest levels of Paradise, so that he may find joy in them. This was stated in the Qurān and reported in the Sunnah.

Sa’īd bin Jubayr rahimahullāh narrated from Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allāh be pleased with him and his father): "They were taken care of because their father was a righteous man, although it is not stated that they themselves were righteous.''

Ibn Kathīr rahimahullāh also mentions that this righteous man was from the forefathers of these orphans, stating that it was their 5th great grandfather, it has also been stated that it was their 8th great grandfather.

This shows that the blessings of a righteous person’s worship can extend to future generations and that if he doesn’t see the good in his own children then it could be that Allāh brings out from his progeny righteous people who benefit him well after he has departed from the dunyā.

Al-Baghawī rahimahullāh mentions in his tafsīr that Sa’īd bin Al-Musayyib rahimahullāh said: “I pray and remember my son and increase my prayers”.

In addition to that which has been mentioned, it is of great importance that a parent supplicates for his children. The messenger of Allāh ﷺ informed us that supplication of the parent for his child is accepted.

“There are three supplications that will undoubtedly be answered: the
supplication of one who has been oppressed, the supplication of the traveller and the supplication of a father for his child." (Abū Dāwūd (1536), At-Tirmidhī (1905) Ibn Mājah (3862) and graded hasan by Al-Albānī rahimahullāh in Sahīh Ibn Mājah 3129).

It is also of great importance that we educate, cultivate and leave a lasting legacy behind for them to have as a foundation to establish their lives upon.

“Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya’qūb? When he said unto his sons, “What will you worship after me?” They said, “We shall worship your Ilāh, the Ilāh of your fathers, Ibrāhīm, Ismā’īl and Ishāq, One Ilāh and to Him we submit (in Islam).” (2:133).
