Something for us to ponder upon - food for thought.

A day is 24 hours, and let’s say:

1️⃣ We sleep for 8 hours

2️⃣ Work/education take 8/10hrs (prep, travel etc)

3️⃣ How do we spend the other 6/8 hours?

How many times do we use the excuse of being busy?

⏹️ The 5 prayers may take around 1hr

What do you do with the other 5/7hrs?

⏹️ If a day passes you and you haven’t read anything from the Qurān, what were you doing?

A week has 168 hours:

⏹️ Sleep: 7 X 8 = 56 - A third of the week spent on sleep.

⏹️ Work/education: 5 X 8 = 40 or 5 X 10 = 50

Ask yourself how much of the remaining 52/62hrs do you spend on seeking nearness to Allāh?

If we were to sit and ponder upon this, we will find that ‘I’m busy’ is not correct.

It was said about many imāms from the salaf: if they were to be informed that the hour was going to be established, they wouldn’t be able to increase in goodness. This is because their time was filled with seeking nearness to Allāh ﷻ

قال العلامة الألباني - رحمه الله -:

‏أيُّها المُسلمون لا يرفع الله عزّ وجلّ هذا الذل
‏حتى ترجعوا إلى دينكم، والرجوع إلى الدين؛
‏معناه: الرجوع إلى فهمه فهمًا صحيحًا على
‏الكِتاب والسُّنّة ومنهج السّلف الصّالح، ثم العمل
بهذا الدين الذي فهمناه فهمًا صحيحًا.

“O Muslims, Allāh عز وجل will not remove this humiliation until you return to your religion, and returning to the religion means: returning to understanding it correctly upon the Qurān, the Sunnah, and the methodology of the righteous predecessors, then acting upon this religion, which we have understood with the correct understanding”.

With the blessed month of Ramadhān just over 2 months away, start preparing for it now if you haven’t already.

1️⃣ Ask Allāh ﷻ that He allows you to reach the month.

2️⃣ Make up any fasts due upon you from the previous year.

3️⃣ Increase in repentance and seeking forgiveness.

4️⃣ Increase in your recitation of the Qurān.

5️⃣ Learn the rulings, wisdoms, virtues of fasting. The link below is a good suggestion.

We ask Allāh ﷻ that He allows us to reach the month of Ramadhān, grants us tawfīq in fasting its days, standing in the nights and that we are from those whose previous sins are forgiven.
