Al-Hāfidh Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, rahimahullāh, said:

Umar ibn al‑Khattāb, may Allah be pleased with him, whenever winter arrived, would look after them and wrote for them with advice:

"Indeed, winter has come, and it is an enemy. So prepare for it with its gear of wool, leather footwear, and socks and take wool as your inner garment and outer garment. Indeed the cold is an enemy which enters quickly but leaves slowly."

قال ابن رجب رحمه الله:
«كان عُمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه إذا حضر الشّتاء تعاهدهم وكتَب لهم بالوصية:
إن الشّتاء قد حضر وهُو عدُو فتأهَّبوا له أهبته من الصُّوف والخفاف والجوارب واتخذوا الصُّوف شعارًا ودثارًا فإن البرد عدُو سريع دخُوله، بعِيد خُروجه».

“If you see from yourself that your chest expands with obedience and tightens with sin,then this is glad tidings for you that you are from Allah’s believing servants and His fearing allies.”

Al-Allāmah Ibn Bāz rahimahullāh said:

There is no harm in difference in age between the husband and the wife, whether he is older than her or she is older than him, there is no harm in that. What truly matters is that she be a woman of religion. If she is a woman of religion, then it is upon you to take her (i.e., marry her), even if she is older than you.

And she is likewise [the same], there is nothing wrong for a woman to marry someone older than her if he is righteous for her regarding his religion and his character.

اختلاف السِّن بين الزوج والزوجة لا حرج فِيه، سواء كان يكبرها أو تكبره، لا حرج في ذلك، وإنَّما المهم أن تكون من ذوات الدين، فإذا كانت من ذوات الدِّين فعليك بِهـا وإن كانت أكبر منك،

ـ وهي كذلِك لابأس أن تتزوَّج من هو أكبر منهـا إذا كان صالِحـا لها لدينه وخُلقـه
