A man asked Imām Mālik rahimahu’Allah about someone who said to another: “O donkey.”
He said: “He is lashed.”
[The man] said: “And if he says to him: ‘O horse’?”
He said: “You are lashed! And have you ever heard anyone say to another: ‘O horse’?!”

Imam ash-Shawkānī rahimahullāh said: “Whoever does not seek forgiveness for the Companions in general, and does not ask Allah’s pleasure for them, has indeed opposed what Allah has commanded him with in this verse. And if he finds in his heart resentment toward them, then he has been afflicted by a whisper from Shayṭān.”

Sheikh Ibn al-'Uthaymeen, rahimahullāh, was asked,
“Is a human being free to choose (mukhayyir) or compelled (musayyar)?”
He replied:
“When you sent us this question, did anyone force you, or did you do it by your own choice? If it was by your own choice, then likewise all your actions are by choice. However, I say this: When a person chooses something and does it, we then know that Allah, the Exalted, had willed it.”
[A phone question to Ibn ‘Uthaymeen – 1/62]

Sufyān ath-Thawri, rahimahu’Allah, said:
Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq said to him:
"If that which you love comes to you, then increase in praise (al-ḥamd).
And if that which you dislike comes to you, then increase in saying: 'La Hawla wa la Quwwata illa billah' (There is neither might nor power except with Allah).
And if you find provision slow in coming, then increase in seeking forgiveness (al-istighfār)."

Ibn Abī Mulaykah said: “A man asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) about a day whose measure was a thousand years.”
Ibn Abbas said: “Then what about a day whose measure was fifty thousand years?”
The man said: “I only asked you so that you would inform me.”
Ibn Abbas said: “They are two days that Allah mentioned in His Book; Allah knows best about them.”
He disliked to say about the Book of Allah what he did not know.

Al-Allamah Bakr Abu Zayd, rahimahu’Allah, mentions that dropping the word "Ibn" between two names is a foreign method, invented and not known to the Arabs, and their tongue does not affirm it.
Has the world ever heard of anyone who mentions the lineage of the Prophet ﷺ and says "Mohamed Abdullah"?
Therefore, why do we abandon following this example, which is a more guided path and a more upright course?
