‏«تمتاز جنة الفردوس عن جنة عدن بأن الله غرس أشجارها بيده سبحانه وتعالى، كما أنه خلق آدم بيده وكتب توراة بيده».

Shaykh Sālih Al-Fawzān (May Allāh preserve him) said:

“Jannatul Firdaws is distinguished from Jannatu ‘Adn (Eden) from the angle that Allāh, The Exalted and Most High planted its trees with His Hand, just as He created Ādam with His Hand and had written the Torah with His Hand”.

Shaykh Sālih Āl Ash-Shaykh (May Allāh preserve him) said:

“Tawhīd weakens if the servant abandons supplication to his Lord The Mighty and Majestic. And whenever supplication decreases, the servant’s attachment to Allāh The Mighty and Majestic decreases”.

سئل العلامة ابن العثيمين رحمه الله تعالى

‏ما الأعمال التي أبر بها والدي بعد وفاته غير الدعاء ؟

‏فأجاب :

‏ الصدقة ، الاستغفار ، صلة الرحم ، إكرام الصديق ، كل هذه مما يبر به بعد موته ..

‏لكن الدعاء والاستغفار لهما أفضل شيء ..

Al-‘Allāmah Ibn Al-‘Uthaymīn rahimahullāh was asked:

What actions can I carry out by which I can be dutiful to my father after his death besides du’ā?

He answered:

⏹️ Charity on his behalf
⏹️ Seeking forgiveness for him
⏹️ Keeping ties of kinship
⏹️ Honouring his friends

All of these are ways by which you can be dutiful to him after his death.

However supplicating for them (parents) and seeking forgiveness for them is the most virtuous thing”.

Sufyān Ath-Thawrī rahimahullāh said:

“Your coming to prayer before the iqāmah is out of reverence for prayer”.

The importance of making du’a for your children.

كان للفضيل بن عياض ابنٌ اسمه علي وكان يعاني في تأديبه فدعا ربه:
‏"اللهم إني اجتهدت أن أؤدب علياً، فلم أقدر على تأديبه، فأدّبه أنت لي"

‏فأصلح الله حاله حتى صار من كبار الأولياء ، بل قال عنه ابن المبارك : خير الناس الفضيل، وخير منه ابنه علي.

Al-Fudayl bin ‘Iyād had a son named ‘Alī, and he was suffering as a result of struggling to discipline him, so he prayed to his Lord:

“O Allāh! I tried hard to discipline ‘Alī, but I was not able to do so, so discipline him for me.”

So Allāh improved his condition until he became one of the greatest of the ‘awliyā, rather, Mubārak said about him: “Al-Fudayl is from the best of the people, and better than him is his son ‘Alī”.
