Ash-Shaykh Muqbil bin Hādī Al-Wādi’ī rahimahullāh said:
“What is easier than you memorising words; so and so is a hizbī (partisan), so and so is an infiltrator and you repeat them from this sitting to that sitting.
Rather, what I want from you is to start with the memorisation of the Qurān and memorising that which you are able to memorise from the ahādīth of Allāh’s messenger ﷺ and likewise the Arabic language.
And if you were to busy yourselves with the memorisation of the Qurān and acquiring beneficial knowledge, you wouldn’t find time for this speech”. (Ghāratul Ashritah, 2/41)

Imām Mālik rahimahullāh said: “Indeed this knowledge is your flesh and blood and you’ll be asked concerning it on the day of judgement so look at who you take it from” (Al-Kifāyah, 21)
