From the highly recommended acts on the night of Jumu’ah (Thursday night) and the day of Jumu’ah is to increase in sending salāt & salām upon our beloved messenger Muhammad ﷺ.

This is a great act of worship, one which has many benefits and virtues, so many that Ibn Al-Qayyim rahimahullāh mentions 40 in his book: Jalā Al-Afhām. From them:

1️⃣ Acting in accordance to the command of Allāh ﷻ. Allāh commands us with an action He started off with Himself (33:56)

2️⃣ When you send one salāt upon the messenger , Allāh will send 10 upon you.

The salāh of Allāh upon His slave is that He praises them in the highest abode.

3️⃣ Those who will be closest to the messenger are those who send most salāt upon him.

4️⃣ The salāh sent upon the messenger are presented to him.

There are so many blessings in sending salāt upon our messenger and he is deserving of this due to the great rights that he has over us.

Ibn Al-Qayyim rahimahullāh said:

"If a servant was to send prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ, as many times as he breathed, he would not have fulfilled his rights (upon him)".(Jalā Al-Afhām, 344)

Abud-Dardā (May Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Son of Ādam! Tread the earth on your feet, as it will soon be your grave. Son of Ādam! You are nothing but a number of days, whenever a day passes, then part of you has gone. Son of Ādam! You have not ceased being upon destruction since the day your mother gave birth to you”. (The book of Zuhd [asceticism] of Ibn Abid-Dunyā, 187)

“And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants…” (52:21)

Ibn kathīr rahimahullāh said: “This is His, The Most High’s virtue upon the children by way of the blessings of the actions of the parents and as for His virtue upon the parents, it is by way of the supplications of the children for their parents, for indeed Imām Ahmad said (with his chain of narration to Abū Hurairah), that the messenger of Allāh said:

“Allāh will raise a righteous servant’s degree in paradise, and when he asks his Lord how he has been granted this, He will reply that it is because of his son seeking forgiveness for him.”

Hātim Al-Asam rahimahullāh said: “I saw that everyone has a house and shelter and saw that my shelter is my grave, so everything I was able to do from goodness I put forward for myself in order to furnish my grave”.

On the authority of Abū Hurairah (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allāh said:

"Deeds are presented on Monday and Thursday, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fasting."‏

(Graded sahīh by Al-Albānī rahimahullāh in sahīh at-tirmidhī, 747).
