Sheikh ibn al-Uthaymeen rahimah'ullāh said:
“Upon the intelligent one is to increase in voluntary acts of worship so long as he is in a state of good health because all of the voluntary acts that he performs while he is healthy, if he becomes ill and is unable to perform them, will be written for him in full as though he were performing them.”
[Al-Sharh al-Mumti 4/80]

Ibn al-Jawzī (rahimahu’Allah) said:
“So if Iblīs comes and says: ‘How many times have you called upon Him, yet you do not see a response?!’ Say: ‘I worship through supplication, and I am certain that the response is attained.’”
[Sayd al-Khātir, p. 352.]

“And of them are those who made a covenant with Allah (saying): ‘If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqah (Zakat and voluntary charity in Allah's Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous.’
Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly with it, and turned away, averse.
So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allah) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies (Allah knows all that they conceal).”
[ 9:75–77]
Imām as-Sa'di rahimah'ullāh said:
“The believer should beware of this despicable characteristic: making a covenant with his Lord that if such-and-such objective of his is achieved he will do such-and-such, then he does not fulfill it. Perhaps Allah will punish him with hypocrisy, just as He punished these people.”
