Imām Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahu’Allah)
Imām Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahu’Allah)
From Al-Fuḍayl ibn Iyād (رحمه الله), who said:
“There is no one from the people of knowledge except that on his face is brightness; due to the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:
‘May Allah brighten a person who heard from us a hadīth…’”
[al-Mujālasah wa Jawāhir al-Ilm 1/414]
⸻
And from Sufyān ibn Uyaynah (رحمه الله), who said:
“There is no one who seeks ḥadīth except that on his face is brightness; due to the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:
‘May Allah brighten a person who heard from us a ḥadīth and then conveyed it.’”
[Sharaf Ashāb al-Hadīth (19)]

Al-Khattabi rahimahu’Allah mentioned in Gharīb al-Hadith (3/51), from Sulayman ibn Yasar, who said:
“A group of people were on a journey, and whenever they mounted (their riding animals), they would say:
‘Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts).’
(Az-Zukhruf 43:13 )
He said:
There was among them a man on a lean she-camel, and he said:
‘As for me, I am indeed capable of this one.’
So the camel suddenly bucked, threw him down, and broke his neck.”

Sheikh al-Allāmah Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Wadee rahimahu’Allah was asked:
“What is the condition of one who says: ‘Questioning a scholar for evidence is bad manners’?”
He replied:
“This statement is bad manners; because Allah, Glorified and Exalted, says:
‘Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah), and follow not any allies besides Him. Little do you remember!’
‘And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it). And fear Allah; verily, Allah is Severe in punishment.’
‘Say (O Muhammad to these polytheists): Bring your proof if you are truthful.’
And Alawi al-Mālikī, when a questioner would come to him asking a question, and he would give him a fatwa, and then the questioner asked him for evidence, he would say to him: ‘Stand up — you are a fifth (school).’
Meaning: your school of thought is a fifth school. And he would rebuke him very harshly. So this statement is incorrect.
And praise be to Allah—thank Allah, O Ahlus Sunnah: that you now demand evidence, and you give fatwas to people with evidence. This is a blessing, and this is the religion.
This is the religion, O brothers.”
