🇰🇪 Legal Landscape of the Kenyan Gaming Industry

The Kenyan gaming industry has seen remarkable growth. A Geopoll study revealed that 83.9% of the Kenyan population has participated in gaming, surpassing both Nigeria and South Africa indicators. This is why we want to emphasize the regulatory authority and legislation that control the gaming industry, ensuring safety operations.

🟢 The main legislation governing betting in Kenya is the Lotteries, Betting, and Gaming Act of 1966. This Act, updated over the years to keep pace with evolving circumstances, ensures that gaming activities remain legal.

🟢 The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) is the authority responsible for issuing licenses and permits, varying, suspending, or canceling them as necessary. The BCLB also handles complaints and ensures that all actions follow the principles of justice.

🟢 The rise of iGaming, spurred by technological advancements, has also prompted regulatory changes. Kenya has introduced two bills: the Gambling Control Bill of 2023 and the National Lottery Bill of 2023 to ensure responsible gambling across players.

Kenya's evolving legal framework for gambling reflects its commitment to maintaining a fair, transparent, and secure gaming environment both for operators and players.

Regulations of the Gaming Market in Morocco 🇲🇦

Today, we're delving into how Morocco, a North African country, regulates its gaming activities. Despite being an Islamic country, Morocco maintains a relatively open approach to gaming, evidenced by the presence of several land-based casinos that operate legally with local licenses.

Speaking about legal gaming forms, sports betting, lotteries, slot machines, roulette, lotto, keno, craps, and card games are all legal and regulated by entities such as Marocaine des Jeux & des Sports (MDJS) and the Société Royale d’Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC).

Recent years have seen attempts to regulate iGaming, but it technically remains illegal.
