Fire is important for protesters :

- it creates a special atmosphere enforcing a "crowd psychology" of collective action (read Gustave Le Bon Book)

- it creates smoke, hiding protesters from CCTV and drones.

- it forces riot police to change their strategy as they are forced to extinguish the fire or call & protect fire fighters. Thus they lose men and time.

- and it creates a good esthetic for information warfare.
