We are deeply grateful to our dear volunteers who faithfully showed up over the past few weeks to continue to help bring our new site to life. Together, we tended to the farm, added fresh greenery with grass and trees, dismantled pallets, repaired bicycles and even had little hands helping alongside us, accompanied by cheerful chatter that brought so much joy to the space. We were also blessed to enjoy sumptuous meals prepared by our Chefs week after week.
A special thank you as well to Bingyu, who shared our journey from the old site to the new one with our Balik Kampung volunteers. Reminiscing through the stories and pictures he shared was truly meaningful. It was a beautiful reminder of why GUI is a place imbued with the spirit of natureโone that nurtures and endows people with talent, grace, and heart. ๐

Weโre so grateful to Mr Bucket Chocolaterie @mrbucketchocolaterie for blessing us with bags of cacao husks, and to our wonderful GUI friend Earthwalkers SG @earthwalkerssg for specially bringing them over for mulching ๐
What might look like โwasteโ is actually such a gift to the garden. Cocoa husks quietly do so much for the soil:
๐ฟ Add rich organic matter that improves soil structure
๐ฟ Feed plants naturally with nitrogen, phosphate & potash
๐ฟ Keep the soil moist and cool under the sun
๐ฟ Help buffer temperature changes
๐ฟ Even discourage snails and slugs with their rough texture
Itโs a beautiful reminder that nothing in nature is wasted โ everything can return to the earth and nourish new life. Thank you for helping us grow in a way that cares for the soil, the plants, and the wider community.๐คโจ

We were so grateful to welcome the donors of our #1000GUIConnections fundraiser to GUI. ๐ฑ
This beautiful initiative was founded by our dear friend of GUI, Hui Ying โ bringing together 1,000 connections in support of GUI. As a token of appreciation (and to wish everyone a bountiful CNY ahead ๐งง), Mei invited our donors to join us for a harvesting session at our farm. Together, we harvested fresh lettuce, cai xin, xiao bai cai, bayam and more, followed by an insightful tour of our new site. ๐ฅฌ
More than the harvest, we cherished the precious conversations.๐One donor shared how he first came back to plant grass, heard about the fundraiser, and felt inspired seeing so many people doing good together. Moments like these remind us that community is what truly helps us grow. ๐
