It is important to take a break. Our EO team walked from Kent Ridge Park to Bukit Chandu to Labrador Park. We are very thankful to this team. Week after week they fill the community's tummy with food and love.
The Earth Oven is a very beautiful story of how the community came together to build and power an idea (no grants no sponsorship hor). This community is made up of people from all walks of life. They place-make and place-keep, not easy!

We are very grateful to Dr Chong Keng Hua, Yohei Kato & Diana Benjumea. These amazing people came together to work on a research that was published yesterday! We are so excited!
Their study conducted at GUI in Singapore revealed that long-term engagement in nature placemaking activities influence participantsโ health and wellbeing as indicated by their subjective sense of community, social cohesion, connection to nature, intrinsic motivation, self-esteem, and self-efficacy.

People make GUI. Friends close to us would be familiar with scenes like this. At GUI, when it rains, it pours! Yesterday, we hosted 182 students from Elias Park Primary School.
The sky opened just as they were about to board their buses. One by one, members of GUI lined up with umbrellas to create a cover walkway to the bus. We hope we will never lose this spirit of the people as GUI works hard to balance our mission with financial stability.

As we bid farewell to September, we reflect on how GUI has been built through the power of community for the last 14 years. We have been lucky to have many people looking out for us, working hard to build and grow our space and impact. As we grow in numbers, we also recognise the importance of building capacity and connections among our volunteers. This month, we are piloting a series of facilitation training sessions with Youth Corps Singapore! โจ
We are also very lucky to have been featured on Mothership (thanks to the lovely Audrey for filming!) and see many new faces in our virtual space! ๐๐ผโค๏ธ

Studies have shown that being in natural spaces can be beneficial to our health. We are grateful to be able to host teachers from Tzu Chi Singapore ๆฐๅ ๅกๆ ๆต Great Love Pre School recently.
"Going down to the stream was fun, the water was cooling, it was a great chance to get closer to nature and I was so amazed to see the mini waterfall as we walked to the end of the stream. - Inspired Teacher"
