2020/2021 (2013 E.C.) Academic Year

Dear 1st year students of the AAU: the end of the first semester of your first year is going to be concluded shortly. You will be ready to choose the academic streams offered by the colleges and programs of our University.

Please follow the following steps to make your choices online.

• Go to your home page: https://portal.aau.edu.et. Remember: You need to have username and password to enter into the portal.

• You will find a list of academic programs offered by the various academic units (colleges/programs) of the AAU.

• Indicate your choices in rank order, as 1, 2, 3 . . your first choice being 1, your second choice 2, etc in front of the listed discipline/program.

Note:

1. You yourself have to submit your choices using our online system, by using https://portal.aau.edu.et.

2. You can also get assistance from your nearest registrar office staff to submit your choices online.

3.Failing to submit your choices before the set deadline means losing the opportunity to compete for your choices. Our automated placement system will place you randomly and where places are available.

C. Placement Criteria and Schedule

1.You may get information about each college and subsequent department from the University General Information Booklet.

2. October 03 to October 03, 2021 Students will fill preferences for their placement.

3. Students who are interested to join Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy should sit for entrance Exam prepared by the colleges. Number of students who can sit for entrance exam will be decided by the Colleges.

4. Those students who will sit for entrance exam will be screened by the registrar based on their choice and Result (EUEE + First Semester GPA).

5. The potential candidate list who can sit for entrance exam will be communicated to the relevant colleges and the candidates (students) on October 11.

6. The college (CHS) will conduct the entrance exam on October 12 and 13, 2021.

7.On October 15 the colleges (CHS) will inform the registrar those students who have passed the selection criteria (EUEE + First Semester GPA + Entrance Exam 30%) School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy.

8. Candidates who sat for entrance exam but were not able to join one of the above mentioned schools (Medicine and Pharmacy) will be placed to other colleges based on their result (EUEE (Ethiopian University Entrance Exam) 50%, First Semester Result (50%)).

9. All other students will be placed according to their choices based on their (EUEE (Ethiopian University Entrance Exam) 50%, and First Semester Result (50%) by the registrar on October 16, 2021.

10. Second semester registration will be on October 18, 2021.

11. Second semester class will begin on October 19, 2021

D. Steps to fill colleges/schools/departments preferences
1. Open browser (ex. Firefox) and type portal.aau.edu.et
2. Login by typing your username and password
3. In your home page click on Admission and choose Placement
4. Choose your preferences in rank order
5. Click on Submit for conformation.

Yared Did not have a good study habit and he missed classes everyday to play pool 🙊 as a result Yared had a bad Semister and academically dismissed .

ከላይ በምሳሌው እንደምታዩት ያሬድ በሴሚስተሩ ጥሩ ውጤት ስላላመጣ ተጫረ ለምን ሲባል መምህራንንና ግቢውን ምክንያት አደረገ ግን እኮ ያሬድ ክላስ ሲቀጣና ሁል ግዜ pool ሲጫወት እንጂ ትምህርቱን ሲከታተል አልነበረም ።

😶 ይሄ ነው Socially inappropriate ለሆነ ባህሪ ( ከ ግቢ መባረር ከትምህርት ቀርቶ pool በመጫወትና ባለማንበብ ) socially acceptable reason (መምህራንንና ግቢውን ) ማቅረብ መሞከር ።

🙌 ይህን ምዕራፍ በተወሰነ መልኩ በጹሁፍ አብዛኛውን ደግሞ በድምጽ የምናቀርብላቹ ይሆናል ።😉

Psychological disorder (Mental illness or mental health disorders) የምንላቸው በመጠናቸው ብዙ የአዕምሮ ህመሞችን የሚይዝ ሲሆን የእየለቱ ሁኔታችንን (Mood) አስተሳሰባችንን (Thinking) እና ባህርያችንን (Behavior ) የሚጎዱ ናቸው ።

❗Mental Helath Disorders affect our mood , thinking and behavior .

Abnormal behavior ማለት አንድ ሰው ከማህበረሰቡ እንዲሁም ከሀይማኖት አንፃር ትክክለኛ ተብለው ከሚወከሉ ወይንም ከሚወሰዱ ባህርያት የወጣ ባህሪ የሚያሳይ ወይንም የሚታይበት ከሆነ ያ ባህሪ Abnormal ይባላል ።

✍ When someone's behavior abnormal he or she violates the norm stanadards rules and regulation of the society and her or his religion .

አንድ ሰው የሚያሳየው ባህሪ Abnormal ነው ከማለታችን በፊት አንድ ነገር ግን ልናጤን ይገባል ❗ Abnormal behaviouሩ የተከሰተበትን ሁኔታ ( context ) ማገናዘብ ይገባል ።

Keep in mind 😳

❕Only abnormal behaviour can't be sufficient for diagnosis of psychological disorder .

Abnormal behaviour መታየቱ ብቻውን❗ አንድ ሰው በ አዕምሮ በሽታ ተጠቂ ነው ብለን እንድንደመድም አያስችለንም ።

✅ Maladaptiveness

ይህ ደሞ የሚገልጸው ሰውየው የሚያሳየው ባህሪ ከሰው ጋር ያለውን ግንኙነት( personal relationship) ፣ ማህበራዊ ህይወቱን(social life) ፣ የስራ ሁኔታውን ( work) እና የእለተእለት እንቅስቃሴውን( day to day function) ይጎዳል ወይ የሚለውን ነው ።

✅ Personal distress

ይህ የመጨረሻው መስፈርት (criteria) ሲሆን ሰውየው ምን ያህል ለ ተለያዩ አስደሳች ላልሆኑ ስሜቶች ማለትም Anxiety stress Tension ተጋላጭ ሆኗል የሚለውን ይገልጽልናል ።
