So when GTM team first saw the game called "Hamster Combat" that required a lot of networking and that promised an insane, lifechanging wealth, but at the same time mercilessly kicking you right in the FOMO balls.... We were, like, "yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaah, that's gonna end well".

The Dead Internet theory states that the Internet as we know it has long been an illusion. There are no actual people there: all those tweets, all the posts, every single piece of activity online is auto-generated and basically it’s all

bots, bots, bots.

Take a look at almost every single TON project’s channel: there’s a strong disparity between the number of followers and the actual reach, which doesn’t quite match the supposed >million audience. And it goes like this: you see a post in a channel with, say, 2 million subs, that has what, around 10-20K views? That’s 0.5-1% TOPS. This is where it begs a very reasonable question: what gives?

Ok, let’s take a peek behind the curtains. First of all, yeah, it looks shady as fuck, it basically screams in your face “they’ve BOUGHT the subs! The numbers are artificially inflated!”. Obviously, a certain chunk of this audience’s gonna be those very bots you’re talking about, and not just some chunk, up to 25% easily. Truly a Watergate-quality investigation. But seriously, tho, there are several factors in play.

💥Number one, aka the @major factor (pun intended, homies, pay up!)
The lion’s share of our audience comes from “folder subscription” promos. You know, the ones where you add a folder to your TG chatlist for a reward? And that folder contains on average about 30 channels. Now be honest, do you read those channels much, let alone read them thoroughly? That’s what we thought. And there are at least around 11 other (vetted) projects that channel their traffic to us. To quote the meme classic, “ain’t nobody got time for that!”. To further prove my points, I have a special folder called “cats”, where, you guessed it, I keep my cat pictures channels. Some of those channels have over 3K unread messages. And believe me, I LOVE cats. I never get tired of them.

💥Number two. The people factor.

Aka, the amount of people on TG in general. There’s more accounts on TG than actual people using them, and we’re not talking about bots. How many of you have more than one TG account? The main one for friends and family, a work one, and, maybe, a shitposting one (no judgement here, homies)? And sometimes those crypto channels offer some sweet promos for bringing in friends. And let’s be honest, it’s easier to share some of those referrals with your other accounts than other people. And this is where this big silent crowds come from. Let’s take the official TON Community channel with over 10M followers and with actual engagement coming to 7% of that. Or Investment Kingyru, quite a somebody in the crypto world. Same shit, less than 1% of their active audience. Does it make them scammers or otherwise dishonest people? Fuck no.

But where do those views numbers come from? That’s not exactly rocket science actually. Take a look at their stats. With 1 post per day (if not 1 post per WEEK) the most part of the audience sees those posts when scrolling those channels within 24 or even 48 hours from when they were posting. Some people prefer actually to try and accumulate some posts on those channels so that they have something to scroll through later. Somebody just mutes and archives those channels altogether. That happens too.

And that’s the reality of the crypto world. Sometimes, agent Cooper, owls are not what they seem. This is going to sound wild unhinged coming from a crypto project, but it’s not always about raw numbers. It’s about the meaning behind those numbers, the story they tell through trends and such. So don’t be too hasty to brush everything off as some kind of perpetual simulacrum and therefore unreal and meaningless. And don’t forget to read your favorite channels. It’s important to us:)

Yulia @julivavilova, (we use the actual russian spelling of your name as a sign of respect), this is to express our sympathies and condolences. What happened to you is not right, it's not right at all.

This is completely out of the blue, and perhaps we're overstepping our boundaries here and we don't meant to, but we feel this moral duty to speak out the words that need to be spoken right now. We're so sorry to see and hear those vultures, flying in circles over you, those morally bankrupt bottom feeders who have no problems trading human decency for likes and views, and as much as we hope you have the power and strength to tune their rotten choir out, we realize this is hard.

They are not driven by this compulsive urge to spread the truth. All they want is to kick you where it hurts to make you squeal just for shits and giggles and because it generates engagement. However what they fail to mention is that you have a community by your side. People were making petitions, people were ready to sort of kind of go to war over that arrest. We weren't chilling on the sidelines either. We tried to raise awareness, and even encourage people to fight back. We even got in trouble for this lmao, but it was all worth it.

But it's not about us right now. It's about you. And you are not alone in all of this. We can't even begin to understand what you must be going through (and none of us really want to ever find out, tbh), but from the bottom of our hearts, honest to god, we want to be there for you.

Even if it's just a few kind words. Even if it is this somewhat impersonal. But we mean every single word we say, so from the bottom of our hearts, our deepest and most sincere condolences.
We toy around with all this "we're changing the world even if it's just your gaming experience" thing. But this, this is the change we want to see in the world. Kindness. Compassion. Sincerity.
