Dearly beloved GPC family, we rejoice in Christ as we once again have the blessing of welcoming those who will be formally joining our GPC family as members this Sunday. So let’s take time today whenever you're able to pray for them!

Here are our brothers and sisters who will be joining our GPC community through baptism, confirmation or membership transfer:

Adult Baptism:Hannah Shik Jing Hua; Wong Zi Ying
Confirmation:Aubree Ang I-lynn; Chee Jing Hong; Chen Jee Min; Chong Jayden; Emma Khoo; Lam See Wai; Mika Teo; Sarah Loh; Wong Yan Kay Zoey
Membership transfer:Chan Mun Bin; Chee Chui Lian Eysa; Chee Seow Yen; Koh See Heong; Lee Pei Lin Corrine; Lim Toh Beet; Loo Qiap Ann Pauline; Low Ching Noi Serene; Tan Kim Hua Stella; Tan Siang Miang Almeo; Tan Siang Yu; Tan Tsien Yao Elliot; Yian Chee Seng; Yue Heng Pang Jack
Child Baptism:Ezra Ng Yu-Zhe (son of Nicholas Ng & Beatrice Tan); Jerome Mark Xu Tan (son of Joshua Tan & Mengxi Xu); Kaelyn Tan En Ning (daughter of Jared Tan & Emma Woon); Noah Levi Ng (son of Ng Woon Aik & Dai Qian)

Let’s lift each of them up in our prayers today, praying for them by name. Here are some ways that you can pray over them:
• Give thanks to God for working in each of their lives to draw them to Himself and bringing them into our church community.
• Pray that these new members will experience a greater connection to the church body as they build deeper relationships with fellow believers, bound together by the love and unity in Christ our Head.
• Pray for those undergoing adult baptism and confirmation, that along with the public confession of their faith, their lives may reflect increasing joy in following and obeying Christ as His disciples.
• Pray for parents of those undergoing child baptism, for faithfulness and wisdom to bring their children up in the instruction and discipline of the Lord, being tenderhearted and compassionate in living out the gospel before their children and pointing them to the truth and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us also pray for ourselves and our church:
• As you witness how God has worked in the lives of others, recount and give thanks for how He has graciously brought you into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and how He continues to sustain and grow your faith.
• Pray that your own faith, love and service will be renewed as you reflect on the vows that you made before God and His church at your baptism or confirmation. Pray that God will help to prepare you for this step of faith if you are yet to be baptised or confirmed.
• Pray that we will be ready to take the initiative to form relationships and show hospitality to new members and also newcomers to make them feel welcome and connected in the body of Christ.
• Pray that all of us in GPC will be ready to avail our selves (time, energy, resources, talents) gladly and generously so that the body of Christ may continue to be built up in love.

Thank you for lifting up our church in prayer today. May we be blessed in encountering the Lord's presence in prayer! React with a ❤️ when you've prayed!

Dearly beloved GPC family, as we concluded our sermon series on practicing generous hospitality the past Sunday, we were reminded that welcoming others means going out to show them with the love of God, so that they too may know that God loves them. As we look forward to celebrating GPC's 145th anniversary this Sunday, let's pray that we will grow more and more to be a church that moves together towards others with the love of God.

Let's take time today to pray for our church, giving thanks to God for His faithfulness throughout the 145 years of our history and committing ourselves to a renewed obedience to His teaching and leading, so that our Triune God will be glorified through the church in the years to come. Here are some prayer pointers you may use to pray:

// For unity and mutual love
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
• Pray that there will be a growing unity and love amongst all members of the church, including amongst the Chinese and English services. Pray that each member will have the mind of Christ, humbly considering others more significant than themselves, seeking each others' interest over their own.
• Pray that Christlike love for one another will grow to be a mark of our church, and all who come into our midst will see that God is truly amongst us, because of our love for one another.

// For a faith that is vibrant and active
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25
• Pray that members of the church, through their mutual fellowship with one another (through care groups, fellowship groups, spiritual friendships etc.) will seek to edify and encourage one another towards a deepening relationship with God, outflowing in good works performed in love towards others.
• Pray that members will encourage one another to take steps of obedience together to serve the community around us, witnessing and testifying of God's love and His gospel through word and deed.

// For steadfast obedience to and faithful stewardship of God's truths
"...the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth" 1 Timothy 3:15b
• Pray that in a time of increasing moral uncertainty and pressures in society, the church will remain discerning and uncompromising on learning and living God's truths, in order that the life and light of Christ may shine through His church in amidst spiritual darkness.
• Pray for wisdom, love and intentionality in discipling the next generations, such that they will come to genuine faith and a true knowledge of God, through His word and the lives of His people. Pray for the whole church to recognise this discipleship as a corporate responsibility where each member has a part to play.

Thank you for lifting up our church in prayer. May God continue to be gracious to us as He has been all these years. May He help us be His faithful and compassionate church, loving as He first loved us. To God be the glory forever, amen.

React with a ❤️ when you've prayed 😌

From GPC, God has raised up missionaries to carry His name to the nations. Now they return — and we're called to meet them not as spectators, but as fellow laborers in the harvest. Every part has its role — the sending, the going, the praying — and it is God who makes it grow. "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth." (1 Cor. 3:6–7)

Join us for a Prayer Meeting with our home grown missionaries — come listen, pray, and take up your part in what God is doing through GPC.

* Meet Michelle (Thailand) and Matthew (Mongolia) on 9 August (Sunday) 1-3pm #01-07

* Meet Lawrence & Susan (OM) and Rus (Japan) on 29 August (Saturday) 2-4pm #01-07

Dearly beloved GPC, having celebrated our church's 145th anniversary this past Sunday, let's continue to thank God for His goodness and faithfulness towards us, as we also approach our nation's 61st birthday.

Let's take time today to lift up our nation and the Singapore church before God. Here are some suggested prayer points you can use:

// For Singapore and its leaders
- Give thanks for the stability and progress that God has blessed Singapore with over the years since her independence.
* Pray for God to continue raising up God-fearing leaders who will serve the needs of the people with compassion and integrity, and for continued wisdom to govern the nation amidst increasing global challenges.
* Pray for our society to be one that grows in compassion for those in need and less fortunate, seeking the common good rather than only pursuing gain for one's own interests.
* Pray that religious freedom and harmony will continue to be upheld by the government and respectfully practised amongst the people.

//For the Singapore Church
* Give thanks for the work of mission schools and campus ministries in evangelism and discipleship, and for the privilege to participate in God's mission in raising and sending missionaries out into the global mission field.
* Pray that the Church will be salt and light in the world, being effective witnesses for Jesus through transformed living rather than conformity to the surrounding culture.
* Pray that Christ's sacrificial love will be seen through the Church's sacrificial service to those in need amongst her and in the society, and that love and unity among churches will reveal Christ as our Lord.
* Pray against materialism, performance and legalism from seeping into the Church, and that grace, truth and love for Christ would not only be preached but be exemplified in the lives of believers and in their homes.
* Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower the Church's outreach to unbelievers and those who have not heard the gospel, as well as continued zeal for missions. Pray that individual believers would courageously share the gospel with their non-believing family, friends, co-workers etc.

Thank you for praying for Singapore. React with a ❤️ when you've prayed!

Remember also to join us tonight at 8pm on Zoom @
gpc.sg/joincwop for our Church-wide Online Prayer meeting, where we'll be praying for our church's missions ministry as well as our Glory Theological Fund and Glory Welfare Fund supported ministries. See you then!

At our Church-Wide Online Prayer meeting on Thursday evening, Edr Lionel shared a devotion leading us to reflect on biblical faith and its certainty founded on the promises of God. We then prayed for our church's missions ministry, Glory Theological and Welfare Funds ministries. If you missed it, here is a recording of latest devotion and prayer points.
Come & Join us at our next CWOP on 20 August!
Dear GPC family,

This Sunday is both the Lord's Day and Singapore's National Day. As we gather to worship our sovereign God, let's also give thanks for His faithfulness to our nation.

If you're able, we invite you to wear red and/or white as a simple way of celebrating Singapore's 61st birthday together as a church family.

We look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday! 🇸🇬🙏

Dearly beloved GPC family, as we began our Missions Month sermon series on Sunday, we were reminded that faithfulness in missions is about seeing ourselves as part of the body of Christ, actively participating in God's mission together, and persevering in it with the confident hope that God is working in His church and will complete this work at the day of Jesus Christ.

Let's take time today to commit unto God the missions ministry that He has given us the privilege to participate in as a church, praying that He will grant us faithfulness and diligence to the great commission of making disciples of all nations. Here are some prayer pointers you can use:

// For partnership in the gospel
• Pray that each worshiper in the church, young or old, will see themselves as part of the body of Christ and seek to actively participate in the work of missions. That they will discern and obey the part they are called by God to play in various seasons of their life (e.g. praying, giving, going, discipling, sending, supporting).
• Pray that God will continue to sustain our short term mission trips to Cambodia, Thailand, Mongolia, Taiwan, Batam and Japan, as well as the relationships with mission partners (mission organisation/churches) there.
• Pray for these mission partners in the various countries to remain steadfast and committed to God's work, persevering in Christ amidst the challenges they might face.

// For GPC's homegrown missionaries
• Pray for God to continue to work in the lives of members exploring long term deployment in the mission field.
• Pray for God to protect, encourage and sustain our homegrown missionaries _(Michelle, Matthew and Rus)_.
• Pray for GPC leaders and members to discern and obey God's leading to support and encourage our missionaries in effective and meaningful ways.
• Pray that as some of them preach in August, that God would open the hearts of the congregation to deepen the church's understanding of missions and God's heart.
• Pray for effective and intentional discipleship in the church family, such that more homegrown missionaries would be raised and sent by GPC.

// For GPC's mission board
(Edr Ronald Lim, Edr Koh Seow Kin, Edr Tay Boon Tee, Edr Chan Hong Kiat, Dn Nicholas Ang, Jeremy Chew, Joe Chiam)
• Pray for guidance for the mission board members as they discharge our duties.
• Pray for God's protection over their families so that they can serve without distraction.
• Pray for dependence on God's wisdom and not their own as they make decisions in the board.

Thank you for lifting up our church in prayer today! May God grant us strength and grace to continue growing and being on mission with Him as His church!

AUGUST IS MISSION MONTH.

August is a time to remember that God's heart is for every tribe, tongue, and nation.

We invite you to wear something that reflects your ethnic heritage or a culture close to your heart every Sunday of August. It could be a traditional garment, a scarf, a piece of jewellery, or even a simple accessory. Why?
Because one day, around the throne, people from every nation will worship the Lamb together (Rev 7:9).

When we celebrate our diversity in Christ, we catch a glimpse of that glorious future and we remind one another that the Gospel is for all peoples.

Rev Dr Forest Koh, Senior Pastor
