🇺🇸🇪🇺 - I think that we, the realists, remained for too long in a post-Iraq and post-Afghanistan mindset marked by US foreign policy failures, and we often don't see the many successes the US foreign policy had, and I think we often overestimate the military potentiel of US foreign adversaries.
🇪🇺🇺🇸 - My guess (or at least, what I'm feeling like at the moment) is that the West has reached a level of technological advance in military affairs that will be imposible for the third world and allies club to join within a few years, thus ensuring years of US dominance over global affairs.
🇺🇸🇫🇷🇨🇦 - Those in the West who are still loyal to liberal democracy, notably in Ottawa and Paris, will have to adjust to this new geopolitical reality. Military projection is back.
I think being a realist is
1) Realizing that nuclear deterrence is still a thing, notably for Russia, China and North Korea.
2) BUT, also saying that Western technological advance is increasing by the day so we could see some change on that front.
