Charles, who had passed one year prior, swept the 2005 GRAMMYS with five wins for 'Genius Loves Company,' including Album Of The Year. The tribute was pure magic, and Charles' legacy? Eternal.

1988 Grammys — The Way You Make Me Feel At the Grammy Awards in 1988, Michael Jackson performed a modified version of The Way You Make Me Feel as part of a combined performance with Man in the Mirror. He was given roughly a 10-minute slot for both. That ending of The Way You Make Me Feel is one of my favorites. The high-water pants with the white socks. The clean, precise steps. The spins as he comes up off the floor. His slow, steady moonwalk in a circle ⭕️. The way his dancers slightly move their way off stage. And then — the slow, deliberate walk off stage. What stands out is how different this feels from his tour performances. More controlled. More restrained. Less about spectacle, more about presence. It’s not rushed. It’s intentional.
