This day in history is India's Independence Day.
On August 15, 1947, after several decades of struggle, Mahatma Gandhi's liberation movement achieved its goal - Britain gave India independence. Thus ended 200 years of British rule in the country and a new era began. In 2023, the country will become the most populous in the world and will bypass China.

Marlboro was the first company to introduce the so-called "flip tops" — cigarette packs with a folding top. The fact is that many buyers have become alert to pull cigarettes out of the pack without taking it out of their pocket, so the brand of cigarettes is not visible.
They decided to correct such an unheard-of outrage by introducing such a pack: now you can't take a cigarette out of such a pack without special skill. Thus, Marlboro forced its consumers to take out the pack, showing the brand name and packaging, which had a positive effect on sales.

In August 1941, retreating, Soviet troops left F-10 radio mines in Vyborg, which were activated by radio using a special melody. The Finns who entered the city, having found one of these mines with an unexploded charge, a few days later were able to figure out the mechanism of the fuse and, in order to jam the signal, began broadcasting another melody — "Syakkiyarven Polka". It was similar to the Soviet frequency range, and also had almost no pauses. The polka was played on the radio for two months, until the batteries of the radio mines were guaranteed to run out. Of the 25 shells, the Finns managed to neutralize 8, leaving some historical buildings and sights of Vyborg intact.
