Oil platform crash in Norway, 1980
The Alexander platform was not engaged in oil production, but served as a dormitory for workers who extracted oil on a neighboring platform.
On the evening of March 27, 213 people rested there after a shift. A storm was raging overboard: the wind at a speed of 74 km/ h was raising waves 12 meters high.
One of the six pillars broke, and after 15 minutes the whole structure collapsed on its side.
123 people died then.

In 1971, an airplane crashed, which was struck by lightning, causing a fire in the fuel tank. The only survivor of that disaster was 17-year-old Juliana Koepke, who spent 10 days in the Amazon jungle
The girl miraculously survived, but suffered serious injuries, including a concussion and a damaged collarbone. Among the wreckage of the plane, Juliana found candy, which helped her to survive until 10 days later she found a moored motorboat and a canister of gasoline. A couple of hours later, local residents came to this place, who helped the girl.
