This is the day in history - the fall of Constantinople.

On May 29, 1453, after two months of resistance, Constantinople fell to the onslaught of the Ottoman Empire. With him disappeared the last remnants of the Eastern Roman Empire. And Byzantium has sunk into oblivion.

The luckiest man on earth

For the first time, Croatian Frane Selaka's luck smiled on him in 1964, when a train derailed and fell into a river. 17 people died, but Frane managed to swim ashore.

Then no less funny things happened to Frane: he fell into a haystack from an airplane, during the flight of which the door opened, 19 people died; swam ashore after the bus fell into the river; escaped with bruises after being hit by a bus.

Finally, in 2003, Frane bought a lottery ticket for the first time in his life and won 600 thousand pounds.

The remains of an ancient, more advanced civilization.

A joke of course😁.

This Roman mosaic was not destroyed by barbarians. It was covered with a layer of mud and ash during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius 2000 years ago. Once there was an elite villa on this place. It remains to be hoped that at least the owner managed to evacuate.

this day in history - Joan of Arc was burned.

On May 30, 1431, the story of an outstanding lady ended. At the age of 13, Jeanne believed that she was destined to lift the siege of Orleans. At 16, she went to war against the British, shocking everyone with her combat training. In 4 days, under the command of Jeanne, the siege of Orleans was lifted. The task was considered impossible. There were many more victories in the history of the girl. But it ended in betrayal - having been captured, she did not receive any help from her own king. And was sentenced to death.

In Egypt, not only cats were worshipped.

A statuette with an unknown pharaoh talking to a giant mongoose has reached us. Then they were considered divine representatives of Horus. It was made somewhere in 500 BC.

On May 18, 1980, a volcano located in the northern United States, after a series of tremors and smoke emissions, began to spew hell. Volcanologist David Johnston was at a distance of 8 kilometers. However, rescuers who arrived at the scene did not find even traces of him. The photo you see is also made in blood - its author Robert Landsburg also did not survive the eruption. Despite the evacuation, 57 people died, and 600 square kilometers turned into the lunar surface. So much CO2 was thrown out that it's better for poor climatologists fighting with refrigerators not to know about it.
