In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ‏

Commenting on the recent events in Lebanon and the visit of the American delegation to Beirut, the political assistant to the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hajj Hussein Khalil, made the following statement:‏

Firstly: It has become clear from the successive behavior of the American administration that it wants to eliminate all the elements of resilience and defense that Lebanon enjoys, and to turn it into an American-Israeli colony that moves towards what is called the path of normalization and surrender, leading to the Abraham Accords. Unfortunately, through the American and regional guardianship authorities that operate openly and covertly in this country, it has managed to drag the Lebanese government into making disastrous decisions as a first step towards a comprehensive path of surrender and complete submission.‏

Secondly: The rude and humiliating American dictates, represented in the statements of the members of the ill-fated American delegation in the media and before the official Lebanese officials, aimed at disarming Hezbollah as a prelude to any alleged security and stability, are nothing but a clear and blatant repudiation of the agreement sponsored by America and France in October 2024, which explicitly calls in its first and clear provisions for the cessation of hostilities and the stopping of all Israeli attacks by land, sea, and air without any ambiguity. The American administration, which sent its envoys to Beirut starting with Ortagus, then Tom Barak with his first, second, and third papers, followed by an expanded delegation including members of Congress and the administration, wanted to completely wash its hands of all its previous commitments and explicit guarantees and its obligations to pressure "Israel" to stop its daily attacks and withdraw from the occupied areas of Lebanon. It also contradicted all the false promises recently made by the American envoys before the three presidents.‏

Thirdly: The Americans' push to involve the national Lebanese army to stand against its own people and to create discord between it and the resistance is nothing but a despicable attempt to destroy two fundamental pillars in the structure of this country, namely the army and the resistance. While we condemn this despicable movement, we reiterate to the official Lebanese officials to be cautious of falling into such deadly traps.‏

Fourthly: The claim by some concerned parties in the country, especially those at the head of the executive authority, that what they are doing is an implementation of the Taif Agreement, is a grave mistake and a major suspicion they have awakened to now in the presence of the American and regional political invasion. The Taif Agreement explicitly states Lebanon's right to take all necessary measures that enable it to liberate its land and defend it, including the resistance of its honorable people. This was clear in the ministerial statements of all successive Lebanese governments after Taif. Our greatest fear is dragging the country into a civil war, which the Taif Agreement came to bury after a long suffering endured by the Lebanese.‏

Fifthly and finally: In light of what is happening, we still hope that those responsible and keen on the independence and security of this country, foremost among them His Excellency the President of the Republic, will work to put an end to this political submission of the Lebanese government's decisions and to keep the honorable national institution, the Lebanese army, away from the internal strife that threatens security and stability. They should also work to reconsider the form and substance of dealing with what the international and regional envoys bring in terms of directions that threaten the country's security and civil peace and undermine its freedom and sovereignty.‏
