IT WAS THE JEWS!

From the Convention, we have voluminous records of letters exchanged between the delegates. We also have records of some exhortations sent to them from their home states. But what we don't have are outsiders apprising the delegates of their sentiments; there was no correspondence between people and delegates, nor were there any letters written to the Convention as a whole, addressed to its president and all of the Convention attendees....

Well, save for one.

Jonas Phillips, a Jewish merchant from Philadelphia, sent a letter to "His Excellency the president and the Honourable Members of the Convention assembled."

He wrote them to express a grievance. You see, Pennsylvania had a law which required that public officials take an oath affirming they believe in Christ, accept the Bible as divinely inspired, &c. Phillips complains to Washington and the delegates that this sort of oath is "against the religious principles of a Jew" and that this law thereby precludes Jews from holding office.

He contends them that the Jews, during the Revolution, were "true and faithful Whigs" and "during the ... Contest with England" gave aid and assistance to the Americans "with their lives and fortunes." The Jews had "bravely fought and bled for liberty" and so ought to be given liberty and the prerogative to hold office.

So, it seems we have a pretty clear case here. It was the Jews. (((They))) manipulated the founding fathers into establishing a secular government. It's always the Jews.

Err, wait. They had already voted to add the ban on religious requirements well before he wrote the letter. Furthermore, there's no record of them ever reading or discussing it.

A group of mostly Anglo whites purposefully and happily established a secular government. A Jew then tried to manipulate them into starting that journey only to find they had already departed. Quite a lot like what happened with communism, eh.

Makin' some buffalo wings tonight.

We often talk about all the jobs lost due to industrialization and the movement of "progress" towards a "better" life. But one such job rarely mentioned is the ice harvester.
