I appreciate Tucker Carlson letting President Putin talk. Based on his questions, it was apparent Tucker was not well versed in the recent history of Ukraine, let alone the 1200 year history Putin laid out in detail. And that’s fair because he is not Russian. But I think he expected a shallow answer and didn’t quite know how to deal with getting an educated answer. Journalists in the West are used to dealing with blathering politicians who provide sound bites. Tucker is generally well prepared by American news standards. But I think, even he did not expect Putin to have so much information at his fingertips and to put the Ukrainian conflict into such broad perspective. Our news never reports Putin’s speeches in detail. Most Americans have never actually seen Putin in anything but silly memes. Joe Biden could not provide such historical context nor such depth of reasoning even in his heyday. Anyone who casually shrugs off Putin as a KGB “Thug”, as so many do need to watch this. In the West we consider politicians like chess players— adept at a game of diplomatic manipulation. Putin is what we once had— a statesman who has been restoring Russia as the Orthodox Christian homeland whose heritage was stolen by the same Bolshevik invaders now undermining our American national sovereignty and identity. We would do well to listen closely.

A fire in an underground utility vault was blocking a major intersection in the South of Market district in San Francisco on Tuesday.
The San Francisco FD said the intersection of 3rd & Mission St was closed as firefighters worked to put out the fire, which was sending up billowing smoke from manhole covers.
PG&E crews were also at the site and people were being urged to avoid the area, the FD said.
There was no estimated time for reopening the intersection.
