In 1980 I was an intern in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland. Some nobody at the NIH named Fauci met with 2 of us and our resident in the resident’s lounge to “ teach us” something about autoimmune disease. I had been up all night the night before on call and fell asleep sitting right next to Tony Fauci as he was blathering on. I keep hoping I’m still asleep and this has all been a bad dream. Now maybe I’ll wake up to a better world.
