We used to have many more when i lived on Lake Michigan up north. What are we doing for ship saving when they get teapped in i e? Or is there new tech? Or are we so deindustrialized we don’t ship goods on the great lakes anymore?.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized that the US is seriously lagging behind Russia in terms of the icebreaker fleet. At the moment, the US Coast Guard has one serviceable icebreaker - the Polar Star.
Russia's Arctic fleet includes 42 icebreakers, including eight nuclear and 34 diesel-electric ones. Trump added that he plans to increase the US icebreaker fleet to at least 55 units.

I love Russia but there was a difference. Putin met by senior Politburo Member. Trump met by Vice President. Trump had leverage because he holds the Straight of Hormuz shipping that China not Russia depends on. Ultimately all three are cooperating to restructure the world.
