Years ago when I was in the Navy my friend was an officer on a mine sweeper— the last wooden hulled ships at that time. They participated in a NATO exercise where 100 mines were placed in the English Channel and NATO Ships from all countries sent out to recover them. US Navy = 98 mines recovered.
