At around 6:12 p.m. Saturday, the Park family had just finished dinner when a sinkhole opened up on a sidewalk in front of a crosswalk outside of the restaurant.
Park suddenly disappeared into the ground in front of his wife and son, who were just 2 to 3 meters away.
The gouge was estimated to be 2 meters (6.56 feet) wide, 2.5 to 3 meters long and 1.5 to 2 meters deep.
Park was rescued by a passerby. He sustained injuries to his arms and legs.
Officials suspect the sinkhole was linked to worn-out communication infrastructure installed in the late 1990s or early 2000s.
