I was standing on the Capitol steps at 3 pm when my friend’s smart watch got a news blast, “Trump supporters storming the Capitol.” I looked at him and said “Storming?…Is this storming? Are we in a Monty Python skit?” We had no clue —even from the Capitol steps—that anything had occurred. We were chatting, taking selfies, and watching Capitol guards chat with Trump supporters. For those of us who stayed to listen to President Trump speak, by the time we were at the Capitol all the staged activities were over. We saw agitators in the crowd. But no one seemed to be paying attention to them. I saw someone decked out in a gas mask coming off the steps and thought that was pretty over-the-top. I don’t think we still have the truth about who planned what. Nothing was as the news reported.👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
