“On Saturday, Julian Assange and his family travelled to Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
In the struggle for Julian's freedom, Pope Francis was a formidable ally and a fervent proponent of peace and justice.
"Now Julian is free, we have all come to Rome to express our family’s gratitude for the Pope’s support during Julian’s persecution. Our children and I had the honor of meeting Pope Francis in June 2023 to discuss how to free Julian from Belmarsh prison. Francis wrote to Julian in prison and even proposed to grant him asylum at the Vatican," Stella Assange, Julian’s wife, said.
As World Press Freedom Day approaches on May 3, we honour the steadfast allies, like Pope Francis, who stood by Julian through years of unimaginable hardship. Yet, our hearts ache as Julian, though reunited with his beloved Stella and their children Gabriel and Max, remains shackled by the absence of a pardon. Without it, he is not truly free to work, to provide for his family, or to rebuild the life stolen from him. We will continue our campaign to secure a Pardon from President Trump.
Looking ahead to May, the Assange Campaign will be taking bold new steps to defend and advance the rights that Julian and his case represent—freedom of communication and access to information. We greatly look forward to sharing more with you soon.

After the march 22, may 10 - 24 meetings where we talked about what everyone has learned through the activism for Julian Assange, what the new direction could be of everyone for future activities, we brought some ideas to fight together in the following step, we decided to meet once a week during may-june so we can organize the 1st Anniversary of Julian’s freedom
common actions.
As usual some of us will moderate the encounter according to these ideas: a) use the handraising function to avoid talking into some other speech ; b) when not talking, mute your microphone ; c) try to listen to the speaker without interrupting. At the beginning we will suggest some topics to talk about, but we will also collect your ideas and then talk about them if we have time. For example, Michelle is bringing some proposals of graphics and title for June 24 global action based on some people’s proposals. We can all inspire ourselves on what Matt will show us he is working on also. Micha has some ideas too, let’s share them! @Jodie Sard suggested many hashtags and will share with us her drive with images to share in our social media. There is a link in Telegram and Facebook to bring people together, Michelle will share it then too. ❤️
