One of the US’s goals for the first round of talks was for Iran to be willing to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to resume visiting its major nuclear facilities.
Vice President J.D. Vance reported that a visit could take place soon, saying, “It’s a major milestone and a first step in permanently ending a nuclear weapons program in Iran.”
But there are two big unknowns here.
First, in the past, Iran required lengthy advance notice for IAEA inspections and severely restricted the access for those inspectors. Will Iran do this again?
And second, how many facilities and resources does Iran have that we’re unaware of? How can we be sure Iran is providing full disclosure?

Earlier this morning in a Fox News interview, Senator Tim Sheehy (R-Montana) observed that even as the US-Iran talks have started up, Iran’s goal isn’t to negotiate a deal but to buy time.

The One Certainty We Have in the Middle of So Much Uncertainty
We’re now in the first week of the 60-day window during which the US and Iran will engage in talks about Iran’s future. And we’re currently in a very volatile news cycle in which there is a lot of confusion about what will or will not happen with the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the lifting of sanctions, and so much more.
This leaves us with lot of uncertainty about what might or might not happen next. But God stands above the fray, and He has made it clear that He has already determined how the future will unfold. Ultimately, the strivings of world leaders are meaningless because they do not control history—God does:
Job 12:23: “He makes nations great, and he destroys them; he enlarges nations, and leads them away.”
Psalm 33:10: “The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.”
Jeremiah 27:5: “It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.”
Romans 13:1: “There is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”
Daniel 2:21: “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

Contradictory Statements About Iranian Nuclear Inspections
Trump has said once again that Iran has agreed to open its nuclear facilities to inspections by both US and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts, saying, “If they did not agree to this, there would be no further negotiations.”
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi likewise has said Iran agreed to inspections, and that they are “going to happen.”
Both Trump and Grossi did not offer specific timelines. Trump said there was “no rush,” and Grossi commented, “Whether this happens the day after tomorrow or in one week or in ten days, it’s important, but not essential.”
But Iran’s Tasnim news agency—which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—has pushed back, saying, “The issue of issuing a permit for the agency’s inspectors to enter Iran has not been confirmed by the Iranian negotiating team or other responsible officials in the government.”
The news agency denied that any agreement had been reached yet: “Any possible presence of inspectors shall be subject to final agreement—an agreement that is unlikely to be reached, considering the experience from America.”

Earlier today, the head of the Iranian negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said the deal signed by the US and Iran to end the war is “America’s declaration of defeat.”
Ghalibaf said, “The Islamabad understanding was not the result of pressure and coercion, but rather, the result of the resistance and authority of the brave Iranian nation.”
He further claimed that the presence of US military forces in the Middle East is “a source of instability.”

When asked about billions of dollars of Iranian funds being unfrozen by the US in the days ahead, Vice President J.D. Vance said some of the money would benefit the US: “If Iranian assets are ever unfrozen, they’re going to go to make American farmers richer and to feed the Iranian people.”
But the Iranian ambassador to the UN, Ali Bahreini, disagreed, saying, “Iran is the only country who will decide what to do with its assets, which are going to be defrozen and so I reject any claim by [the US] about that there should…be any role for any other country to have an influence on those decisions or on those processes.”
The Israeli ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, warned that Iran will likely use the money to further terrorism against Israel: “Iran is expected to benefit from a flow of funds under the Memorandum of Understanding. How do we ensure that these funds do not find their way to Hezbollah? If we cannot guarantee that, then all the words we agree to here will make no difference, because Hezbollah will simply rebuild itself.”

The Widening Divide Between the US and Israel
The US and Israel went into the Iran War together with an exceptional level of coordination and cooperation. The two allies fought with tremendous efficiency together to devastate, as much as possible, Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missiles capabilities.
But when it came to ending the war, the Trump administration chose to deal directly with Iran at the negotiating table and leave Israel on the sidelines. Israel had no input at all on the ceasefire deal signed last week and has not been asked to participate in the current talks between the US and Iran.
In the space of roughly six weeks—from February 28 to April 7—the US and Israel went from fighting side by side to the US leaving Israel completely out of the picture during the post-war talks.
The worst part is that the current memorandum of understanding says its terms are binding on Iran, the US, and the US’s allies—including Israel. The US has foisted requirements on Israel without asking for Israel’s input—requirements that put Israel at great risk.
Netanyahu could see the handwriting on the wall.
That is why, two days ago, Netanyahu said, “I greatly appreciate the support we have received—and that I have secured over the years—from our American friends. But today I say we need our own independent weapons production system. We must manufacture our own armaments. We need to free ourselves from dependence.”
We know from Ezekiel 38 that when the Ezekiel War takes place in the future, not a single nation will come to Israel’s aid. Not even Israel’s longtime ally, the US.
Bible prophecy foresees a day when Israel is abandoned by the entire world. And the developments we are seeing today align with what God has proclaimed will happen.
This is yet another reminder of the truthfulness of Psalm 118:8: “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”

The most current round of peace talks between Israel and Lebanon have been extended an extra day
A key focal point right now is figuring out plans for Israel to partially withdraw from “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon. Currently the IDF occupies a six-mile buffer zone into southern Lebanon.
The plan is for the IDF to incrementally withdraw from small areas that will be transferred into the hands of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
The IDF will withdraw only from areas where Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure has been destroyed.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, upon wrapping up his latest trip to the Persian Gulf, said, “I think we are very close in our hopes of getting a commitment of intent between the two countries.”
Still at issue, however, is Israel’s frustration with the US, which has insisted that Israel be bound by the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the US and Iran—a memorandum in which Israel was given no opportunity for input.

Scripture: Our Sure Foundation and Hope
In Psalm 96:10-13, we read,
“Say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.’ Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.”
When we think about God’s judgment, typically we’ll think in terms of His punishment of the wicked. But as we see here in Psalm 96:10-13, God’s justice also has to do with His future peaceful and righteous rule over the earth.
Verse 13 speaks of the Lord’s coming “to judge the earth.” When He returns, He will wipe out evil. But His justice won’t stop there. He will continue to exercise justice by judging “the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.”
The justice we see here includes the Lord’s restoration of His rule on planet Earth. It speaks of the peace that will prevail because He is the Prince of Peace who will establish a perfect government that will never end.
This will be a justice that causes the heavens to be glad and the earth to rejoice. In response, all peoples and all of nature will celebrate the goodness God has restored to all His creation.
God’s justice is reason for the wicked to be fearful, as well as reason for us to lift up praises to Him. As we experience His perfect and righteous justice during the millennial kingdom—when Christ reigns over the world from Jerusalem—we and all of creation will know great joy. The grief that now weighs us down under the curse will one day be replaced by a forever gladness that wells up in unending gratitude and worship for our Lord!

The Latest Escalation and De-Escalation
It all started when Iran attacked a Singapore-flagged cargo ship last Thursday in the Strait of Hormuz, then followed up on Saturday by firing a drone at a Panamanian-flagged commercial vessel.
The US responded to both incidents with two nights of strikes against Iranian targets. Iran then carried out further retaliatory strikes said to be aimed at US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said, “United States aircraft just struck Iranian missile and drone storage location, and coastal radar sites, for violating the Cease Fire Agreement, AGAIN!”
He then said, “It is very possible that they will never learn!”
On Sunday, an Iranian news outlet run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps put out a statement saying, “To achieve the peace and calm that Iran needs, it must absolutely reach nuclear deterrence to ensure that the rest of the issues can be resolved through negotiation.”
In other words, Iran says it needs nuclear weapons as a deterrent toward peace.
The US and Iran have since agreed to de-escalate from further attacks and resume negotiations.
As Trump continues to attempt to bring about a peace deal, he needs to revisit his statement that “it is very possible that [Iran] will never learn.”
It’s not that Iran will never learn. Rather, Iran has no intention of changing. The ruling regime is still determined to build nuclear weapons. It’s fiercely dedicated to the destruction of Israel. And it’s going to do everything it can to continue controlling the Strait of Hormuz as a means of holding the rest of the world hostage to its demands.

Lawmakers Continue to Call on Trump to Stop Sale of F-35 Jets to Turkey
Back in October of 2025, lawmakers from the US House of Representatives wrote a letter to the Trump administration asking that the president not approve the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey.
The letter, written to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, said that to continue with the sale would threaten the US’s national security because Turkey possesses S-400 air defense systems made by Russia.
The letter said the Russian-built defense system “poses a direct threat to US military aircraft, including the F-16 and the F-35, by enabling Russian intelligence to gain insights into sensitive US technologies if these systems are operated alongside one another.”
The lawmakers further said that the sale of F-35s “would also send the wrong message to America’s allies and partners…in the Eastern Mediterranean, including Greece, Cyprus, and Israel…Granting Ankara [Turkey] access to advanced American fighter aircraft despite its conduct would undermine these partnerships and embolden Turkey to intensify its aggressive behavior in the region, thereby jeopardizing the regional stability that we have worked so hard to preserve.”
On Sunday, June 28, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated the concern of the US lawmakers, saying, “Hardly a day goes by that Erdogan [the president of Turkey] doesn’t call for the destruction of the State of Israel. We take these words very seriously, because if we have learned one thing in the history of our people, when someone says he intends to destroy you, take him seriously. We take things seriously, and we will also draw the attention of our American friends to these statements. We do not ignore them.”

The lawmakers further said that the sale of F-35s “would also send the wrong message to America’s allies and partners…in the Eastern Mediterranean, including Greece, Cyprus, and Israel…Granting Ankara [Turkey] access to advanced American fighter aircraft despite its conduct would undermine these partnerships and embolden Turkey to intensify its aggressive behavior in the region, thereby jeopardizing the regional stability that we have worked so hard to preserve.”
On Sunday, June 28, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated the concern of the US lawmakers, saying, “Hardly a day goes by that Erdogan [the president of Turkey] doesn’t call for the destruction of the State of Israel. We take these words very seriously, because if we have learned one thing in the history of our people, when someone says he intends to destroy you, take him seriously. We take things seriously, and we will also draw the attention of our American friends to these statements. We do not ignore them.”

Iran’s Fast-Growing Belligerence
In recent days, Iran’s leaders have acted and spoken in ways that communicate they are determined to control their destiny and the terms that arise at the negotiating table.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has been behind much of the messaging.
Baghaei has demanded that the International Atomic Energy Agency stop issuing what Iran insists are political statements. This pushback has come in response to the IAEA’s attempts to resume inspections intended to ensure Iran is in compliance with Western expectations of its nuclear program.
He also said that several billion dollars of Iran’s frozen assets must be released before it is willing to begin talks with the US. The US position is that Iran must first prove it will behave.
Baghaei further insisted that Iran has the right to manage and control the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has no intention of conceding the strait and warned against outside interference with regard to traffic in the waterway.
Trump’s original plan was for peace talks to continue today in Doha, Qatar, but Iran did not acknowledge that schedule. Instead, it said talks would occur on Wednesday.
Trump expressed skepticism about what might emerge from the talks, saying, “The meeting in Doha is going to be, perhaps important, perhaps not. We’re going to find out.” He also said the goal is “really very simple. It’s the denuclearization of Iran. We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon, and they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon.”
Iran’s belligerence shouldn’t surprise us and puts the talks on shaky ground. These are avowed terrorists Trump is negotiating with—terrorists who cannot be trusted and will never stop viewing Israel and the US as enemies to be destroyed.
For many decades now, peace has been elusive in the Middle East. No US president has been able to bring it about. There’s a reason for that: Terrorists do not want peace. Because of their ideology, they will never settle for anything less than total conquest.

Another Anti-Israel Democratic Candidate Wins a Primary
Yesterday, an anti-Israel Democratic congressional candidate, Melat Liros, won the primary election in a Denver district, defeating US Representative Diana DeGette, who had held the office for 15 terms.
Kiros is a Democratic socialist who generated controversy when she said that Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel was “inevitable.” She has also accused Israel of genocide.
Back in June 2025, when an Egyptian man firebombed a group of Jewish people at Boulder, Colorado’s Pearl Street Mall, killing one of them and injuring several others, Kiros refused to recognize the crime as antisemitic.
Brandon Rattiner, the senior director of the Colorado Jewish Community Relations Council, said that the Denver-area Jewish community “is really alarmed” over Kiros’s anti-Israel views and the fact she is an overwhelming favorite to win the district in November’s midterm election.

IDF Eliminates Key Terrorist Commanders
The IDF has now carried out military operations in Gaza for nearly 1,000 days, beginning with Israel’s response to Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023.
Recently the IDF killed multiple commanders from the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations, all of whom were part of the October 7 invasion.
Among the eliminated were Ali Qaid Mohammed Stitan, a platoon commander for PIJ, and Talal Jaber Mohammad Abd al-Aal, who commanded a PIJ cell and held Israeli hostages captive. Also killed was Mohammad Fathi Abd al-Hay Abu Fakher, a commander in Hamas’s Rafah Brigade.

J.D. Vance: Even If Negotiations Don’t Succeed, US Was Still Successful
Is US Vice President J.D. Vance preemptively preparing us for the possibility the current US-Iran talks won’t be successful?
It seems that way. In a news interview yesterday, Vance said, “If the negotiation is successful…you have an Iran that is permanently transformed, that’s not funding regional terrorism and instability, that has permanently given up on any nuclear weapons ambition, and that as a result is welcomed back into the world economy.”
Then Vance said, “If on the other hand the Iranians don't behave, if they don't make the concessions in the negotiations that we need to see, their nuclear program is still destroyed, their conventional military is still destroyed, and the United States is still in a much stronger position relative to the Iranians.”
So far, Iran is still determined to restore its nuclear program. It still calls upon Hezbollah in Lebanon to attack Israel. And Iran’s leaders most definitely have not been behaving.

Trump Says Talks Can Go Past Deadline
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Trump has told his administration that he would not see it as a problem if a nuclear deal isn’t achieved by August 18, which is the deadline for the current 60 days of talks.
The president has stated his preference for avoiding further military conflict in that hopes he can achieve his goals diplomatically.
Even so, in the latest round of talks, Iran refused to engage in any direct high-level meetings with the US. Instead, Iran chose to negotiate through Qatari mediators.
Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also made it clear Iran wants to move forward only on its terms: “We are pursuing dialogue, but if the dialogue is not implemented, we are also prepared for war and will respond accordingly” (emphasis added).
In defiance of Trump’s call for the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, Ghalibaf said, “The sovereignty of the Strait of Hormuz lies with Iran and Oman, and traffic in the strait is subject to arrangements determined by Iran.”

Currently, Iran’s ruling regime has set July 9 as the date of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s funeral. Khamenei was killed in the opening strike of the Iran War on February 28.
Iran is expecting a massive turnout of mourners. And leaders have said the funeral will function both as a farewell and as a demonstration of the nation’s strength.
The slogan Iran’s leaders have chosen for the funeral? “We Must Avenge.”
