Anton LaVey, aka The Father of Satanism and the "black Pope", founded the Church of Satan in 1966, and brought it to the Western world as an organized religion. He is the author of the Satanic Bible, and has even made some passive-aggressive comments in regard to there being so many parallels between New Age and Satanism.
