"Nellie's Vote"

I confess, I've debated whether it is ethical for Nellie to vote for some time. Does she really have the mental faculties necessary to vote responsibly? She is 24, and really bright. I have learned not to underestimate her.

Perhaps this is not even the right question. After all, former negro slaves were also not considered worthy of a vote or capable of voting. As a country, we repented of such thinking, and eventually fixed the constitution.

Still, I don't think it is fair for me to have two votes. I want to enjoy a single, untainted vote.

So last night while I was studying up to vote today I was studying the sample ballot. Nellie in typical fashion crawled into my lap to see what I was doing.

She began reading the names off the ballot she knew... Joe Blystone, Mark Pukita, and John Adams. Then she said unprompted, "I love them. I love Joe, John, and Mark."

That settled it for me. Love is a perfectly valid reason to vote for someone.

She did the ballot herself. She is one smart cookie!

"Watch Party"

I'm looking forward to attending Joe Blystone's election watch party tonight. I've never been to one before, and I'm thinking about what might happen.

I doubt that the election will be free and fair based upon all I've learned across the country. Nevertheless, I'm hoping that the will of the citizens will overwhelm the algorithms.

If the election is free and fair, I think Blystone will win the grassroots vote overwhelmingly. The question in my mind is whether that will be sufficient to overwhelm the suburban folks who know less about the "farmer."

Hopefully, the suburban votes will be diluted between DeWine and Renacci, and Blystone will emerge on top. I've not looked at any polling, this is just my gut.

But regardless of what happens, God is in control. At least I know that for sure.

When someone is making bad life choices you pray for a shallow bottom to their consequences.

At present, God is judging our nation. To me, the outcome of these elections is a barometer on the progress of our repentance.

I'm praying for a shallow bottom.

The latest. The *complete* satellite record of global atmospheric temperature. Nothing unusual, just a continuation of the same natural trend since the little ice age; about 1.3 degrees warming per 100 years.

"Excess Deaths"

Since March 5th, the CDC tracking indicates no excess deaths in the US due to *any* cause. This includes their projections based upon delayed reporting (light blue).

That's two months back to historical normal.

"Lower than normal death rates"

It has been suggested that we might now be experiencing lower rates of death in the US for some time, because we've "killed off" our weaker citizens earlier than they would have expired normally. That Covid "culled the herd" of our weaker and vulnerable folks.

To some extent I know that this is true, but it is not all attributable to Covid. For example, we had an "epidemic" of Alzheimer deaths in 2020, due to the way we mis-cared for our elderly and infirmed in long term care facilities. We lost thirty thousand more people in 2020 due to Alzheimers than usual. I think these vulnerable folks just died early from poor care and neglect, and it was a cruel way for them to complete their lives.

To exaggerate by way of explanation, let's say that we executed everyone older than 50 years of age. There would massive death rates in the year we carried out the executions, but then far lower rates in succeeding years because people tend to live to much older ages than fifty.

If the lower death rates pan out over the next few years, then Covid will have simply ended some lives sooner than they would otherwise have ended.

And WE will have ended some lives sooner than otherwise by how we behaved and treated our elderly and infirmed.

I am ashamed of the way our country behaved during the Covid pandemic. I was encouraging and optimistic at the start, but when I saw how Covid was being used by our governments to infringe upon our liberties and destroy the lives of our children and elderly, I spoke out.

History will prove me right on this.
