Between 2018 and 2022, the suicide rate went up by 27%, with over 171k recorded suicides. It keeps going up according to local medias despite the government having to STOP releasing new data to pretend it's okay.
While farmers don't account for a huge part despite medias pushing this narrative, nearly all suicided farmers in India kill themselves over inability to pay back hyper-predatoey loans issued by the STATE. The medias there talk about a suicide epidemic but ONLY for farmers, citing world market and bad crops as main reasons.

37% of the world's illiterate are in India.
India does NOT appear in the world's top % of illiterate countries due to recently only getting above 80% of literacy rate (80.6 in 2018).
However there's still more than 250 MILLION illiterates in India according to the UN.


This place is a NEVER ENDING ride of discovering how bad it is.
