"Who is your favorite artist?" Amazon has unveiled a first look teaser trailer for a fascinating new horror thriller series titled Swarm, an anti-hero tale of a woman obsessed with a pop star. They've been keeping the plot of this a big secret, with the creators hinting that it's inspired by Haneke's Piano Teacher and The King of Comedy (huh, okay - we have to wait to find out what exactly that means). Swarm follows a young woman named Dre, played by Dominique Fishback, whose obsession with a pop star takes a "dark turn". That's all they offer up so far and this teaser doesn't show much more yet either. The series also stars Chloe Bailey, Damson Idris, Leon, Rory Culkin, and Karen Rodriguez. From some early hints, it's a riff on being infatuated with Beyonce, and where this leads her when she gets too obsessed. "I can't do it alone, I need you!" Paramount Movies + MGM have debuted an official trailer for an indie dark comedy / survival thriller titled Unseen, not to be confused with Steven Soderbergh's psychological thriller Unsane. This is launching directly on VOD for streaming at home in March. Here's the extra wild pitch for this movie: two women form an unlikely connection when Sam, a gas station clerk, receives a misdialed call from Emily, who is running from her murderous ex-boyfriend in the woods. Having lost her glasses in her escape, Emily must rely on Sam’s eyes using the video call and camera in order to survive and make it home. Unseen stars Midori Francis, Jolene Purdy, Missi Pyle, and Michael Patrick Lane, along with a few others. This is an interesting concept that seems especially fake as a movie. "What a prize creature we have fished from the river..." BBC revealed a very brief teaser for their new 2023 adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations, a mini-series arriving for streaming this March. It's a BBC / FX co-production, with an impressive cast of stars that will make sure it's thoroughly entertaining. The 2023 series follows orphan Pip, who spent his childhood as a blacksmith's apprentice and suddenly receives a windfall from an unknown benefactor that allows him to travel to London and enter into high society. Great Expectations is Dickens' thirteenth novel and his last finished work, published in 1861. It has been adapted numerous times before, including as feature films recently in 1998 with Ethan Hawke, and in 2012 with Ralph Fiennes. This latest 2023 series stars Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham, Fionn Whitehead as Pip, Ashley Thomas as Jaggers, Johnny Harris, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle, and Matt Berry as Mr. Pumblechuck. "The only way of getting to the truth is by investigating for myself." It was the giant yellow duck! Hulu has revealed a new US trailer for the horror comedy series Wreck, from the BBC. This one is already streaming in the UK as of last fall, and it will finally be available in the US for streaming this March. Set aboard The Sacramentum cruise ship, Wreck follows 19-year-old new recruit Jamie as he attempts to infiltrate a crew of 1000 people to find his missing sister who vanished on the previous tour aboard the same vessel. Watch as Jamie, and his new found friends, work together to uncover the sinister truth that runs as wide and deep as the ocean on which they’re trapped. A new horror comedy turned into a series? "For super service, call or text...!" Ahaha who needs a plumber! Or two?! Illumination Animation revealed this fun TV commercial viral promo for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, arriving in theaters this April. It's a TV spot entirely in the style of a local plumbers commercial, with all the trimmings and perfect riffs on plumbers trying to get your attention. It even has its own vintage '90s hip hop Run DMC-style jingle. All of this is just delightful. The video also leads to a viral website, for Mario & Luigi's plumbing business, with a number you can actually text (if you're in Brooklyn & Queens). The movie features the voices of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser (of course), Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Sebastian Maniscalco. Paramount has debuted an extended Big Game spot for one of their big summer sequels - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, introducing a brand new Autobot named Mirage. This is technically the 7th movie in the sentient alien robot series Transformers, bringing back Optimus Prime and the Autobots again. Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a '90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons. "Time has a pattern... that it can't help reliving." Warner Bros has revealed the first official trailer for The Flash movie, revealed during the Super Bowl after years of waiting. This movie has been in production for a while, delayed from opening last year with a new release set for June this summer. This movie about The Flash is also about Batman (again), bringing the two together in a "worlds collide" marketing slogan. But wait! There's a few more DC superheroes in here! Ezra Miller returns starring as Barry Miller, with a cast including Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, plus Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso, and Luke Brandon Field. And Michael Keaton is back as Bruce Wayne / Batman - "an older version of Wayne from an alternate universe." There's also a tease that Affleck's Batman is in this, too, as another alternate Batman. The biggest reveal is Supergirl, who shows up at the end looking quite badass. Lucasfilm has debuted a new Super Bowl TV spot for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie, this one directed by James Mangold. The outstanding first trailer dropped last year, with an action-packed 30 seconds more of footage in this spot. They still haven't revealed any official plot details yet. Only: the film will be set in 1969 in the middle of the Space Race, with Harrison Ford back as Indy. Meanwhile, Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the Moon-landing program, wants to "rectify the world and make it into a better place as he sees fit." Along with Harrison Ford, The Dial of Destiny stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who shows up in this spot), Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and John Rhys-Davies. Marvel has debuted a second official trailer for James Gunn's sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 during all the Super Bowl Sunday mayhem (view the first trailer again). This Marvel Studios sci-fi extravaganza kicks off the summer movie season - launching in theaters on May 5th in a few months. This spot also comes with a new title - Air: Courting a Legend - which gives it a bit more of a hook to setup what it's about. The movie tells the story of the salesman at Nike who works to sign Michael Jordan to this landmark deal, launching the iconic "Air Jordan" shoe line. It follows the history of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro, played by Matt Damon, and how he led Nike in its pursuit of the greatest athlete in the history of sports: Michael Jordan. It also co-stars Ben Affleck as Nike's Phil Knight, and he also directs the movie. Th cast includes Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis & Julius Tennon as Deloris & James Jordan, Matthew Maher, and Tom Papa. The Match Factory has revealed the first promo trailer for the German romantic drama Afire, the latest movie made by acclaimed German filmmaker Christian Petzold. He is best known for his films Jerichow, Barbara, Phoenix, Transit, and Undine previously, and his latest is also premiering at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival starting this week (hence the new trailer). Afire, also known as Roter Himmel (or Red Sky) in Germany, is about a group of friends staying at a holiday home by the Baltic Sea where emotions run high as the parched forest around them catches fire. It's obviously a love story about Paula Beer, as it seems every single guy in this trailer is madly in love with her. Natürlich. Signature Ent. in the UK has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled My Sailor, My Love, an Ireland-Finland co-production from director Klaus Härö. This old age romantic drama premiered at TIFF 2022 last year, and just played at the Palm Springs Film Festival in the US earlier this year. Howard, a retired sea captain, refuses any help from his daughter Grace. When she hires Annie as domestic help for him, Howard unexpectedly falls in love. He gives all his affection to Annie and her family, but rejects his own daughter. My Sailor, My Love is a story about a guilt-affected daughter-father relationship. But it's also a love story between two elderly people, proving a new beginning is never too late. "He can have her one more time." The Match Factory has also unveiled a festival promo trailer for another new German film premiering soon at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival kicking off this week. Someday We'll Tell Each Other Everything is the latest film from filmmaker Emily Atef, following her Cannes 2022 feature More Than Ever. Set in a warm summer in 1990 in former East Germany, it follows a young woman who begins a passionate sexual relationship with a charismatic farmer who is twice her age. "This is our world now!" Those damn kids! RLJE Films has unveiled an official trailer for Children of the Corn, a new update on the horror classic, originally based on the Stephen King story from the 1970s. It was adapted a few times before - there was the original 1984 horror movie Children of the Corn, which had a few sequels; and there was a TV movie version in 2009 for Syfy / Fox. After a few years waiting in release limbo, this 2023 update is set to open in theaters this March. Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, a twelve-year-old girl in Nebraska recruits the other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won't go along with the plan is the town's only hope of survival. The horror film stars Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey, and Bruce Spence, along with a bunch of freaky kids. "No reason to be nervous? They're only killers." Lionsgate and Miramax present the official US release of the Guy Ritchie action comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, now called Operation Fortune (sans Ruse). STX was going to release this last year, but that studio shut down and they also had to fix some issues with Ukrainian bad guys in this movie (whoops). Now it's ready to finally land in US theaters starting March 2023 (it already opened in Europe last fall). Super spy Orson Fortune, played by Jason Statham, and his team of top operatives recruit Hollywood's biggest movie star, Danny Francesco, to help them on an undercover mission to stop the billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds from selling a deadly new weapons technology that also threatens to disrupt the world order. The fun cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, Eddie Marsan, Tim Seyfi, with Hugh Grant as Simmonds.
