The family of a woman who says she endured a terrifying sexual assault in Dungarvan late Saturday night, say they are angry and upset that Gardaí asked them to take down a social media post informing others that foreigners had been involved.
One family member told Gript that concerns about identifying the attackers as non-Irish seemed to be more important to gardaí than ensuring that other females were aware that they may be in danger.
The post had reported that some time after midnight last Saturday, the woman was coming home from a pub past Dealz in Dungarvan when four adult foreign males pulled her into an alleyway, removed her belt and pulled her pants and underwear down to her ankles.
As she begged them to stop, a woman in a nearby house heard the screaming and ran to her assistance. The post says the men subsequently attacked this woman but she served as enough of a distraction to cause them to flee.
No arrests have been reported.
