Anyway, during a spot of painting & decorating today my mind wandered onto the subject of Nordstream. Ponder for a minute how the vote would actually go in a free and fair ballot, where the boxes were opened and counted live on TV, with no chance for gombeen gards to stuff them into vans under cover of darkness, and no dodgy newfangled US software allowed to warp the popular will.
Even assuming the entire Establishment class, all their families and every one of the hundreds of thousands of folk employed in Ireland's gargantuan NGO sector voted No, I would still give the referendum a very high chance of passing, judging from the public mood.
