The many Ukrainian refugees who have felt the need to return to Ukraine for their holidays will be missing out.
We refer to our post of 13th June, 'The Truth Will Out' which included published images of the people of Kiev in scenes of summer bliss.
We were subsequently alerted to posts on a FB page in which Ukrainian refugees in Ireland have been sharing information as to how they could return to Ukraine on holiday, with some reporting that they had flown to Warsaw and travelled the rest of the journey by train, and revelling in the cheap flight deals which are available.
They assured each other that their money and accommodation in Ireland would be secure.
Ukrainian refugees in Ireland only need attend at the post office for their first payment, and they may then apply to have their payments made directly into their financial institution account. Payments can be made to an Irish financial institution, a Revolut or N26 account.
This effectively means that there is no tracking as regards the location of recipients, some of whom are clearly using the money they have received to furtively return on holiday to the very country they are supposed to be fleeing from.
LFJ Ireland auto-translated and screenshot some of the posts which appeared in one Facebook group before its group settings were changed to private, clearly for obvious reasons. Many FB users in Ireland were outraged by the arrogance and audacity of the members of this group blatantly showing disrespect for the extensive aid that has been offered to them in Ireland.
Many ask, 'If your country is safe to return to on holiday, why are you here seeking asylum?"
When is our Government going to stop this madness? For how long will they open up our Country to financial abuse in the midst of a serious humanitarian homeless and housing crisis in Ireland?
How long will they try to hide the truth, while walking over the rights and wellbeing of the people of Ireland?
Perhaps the Department Of Foreign Affairs should be asking for official figures as to how many Ukrainian refugees have flown out from any airport on this island since they entered. It is time for the hard questions to be answered by Government.
