Ideonella sakaiensis can decompose and digest the plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) into small organic molecules for energy. This strain was originally isolated from a sediment sample from a plastic bottle recycling plant in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan in 2016, hence the name.

南半球的象限与北半球具有相同的投影间距，但纬线与北极同心。这为南部各大洲提供了连续性和相当好的形状，但牺牲了保角特性，并使距离测量值向这些象限的外经线扭曲。

如果球状的地图为真，那么不需要加注南部球经线扭曲。

1954 U.S. Air Force Physical-Political Global Chart of the World, issued in St. Louis, Missouri, is a map based on the Flat Earth.

But the southern hemisphere is redrawn in the shape of the original spherical map, with the following annotation:

The quadrants of the Southern Hemisphere have the same projection spacing as the Northern Hemisphere but with the parallels concentric with the North Pole. This provides continuity and reasonably good shapes for the southern continents but sacrifices the property of conformality and distorts distance measurements toward the outer meridians of these quadrants.

If the spherical map is true, then the southern spherical meridian distortion no need to be noted.

For measuring distances use portion of mile scale centered on the mean latitude of the desired distance. In the Northern Hemisphere divide long distance into several sections and measure each section with corresponding latitude portion of the mile scale. Southern Hemisphere distances are less reliable. To convert Great Circle Miles to Statute Miles multiply by 1.15.

In the scale notes, the scale for the air force in the northern hemisphere is accurate, but the scale for the southern hemisphere is unreliable.
The southern hemisphere routes are also concentrated within the Tropic of Capricorn, which is 15% larger.
And these distances have nothing to do with the altitude for air force flies.
