My daughter asked me:
Since the matter of ad-Dajjal (The Antichrist) is known and explained to us by our Prophet ﷺ, how can some Muslims follow him upon his emergence?
I said to her:
"Among the consequences of sinning is forgetfulness of beneficial knowledge”, whereupon I recalled Ibn Taymiyyah's statement in his Majmou' Al-Fatawa:
"Among sins are those that cause one to be veiled from beneficial knowledge, or at least in part; in fact, they become a cause for forgetfulness of knowledge one already knows and confusing the truth with falsehood"
We see [many a time] scholars who fall into the exact matters they used to warn people of and they generated confusion among the people in the most crucial and vital matters pertaining to the Ummah. It is as though they were made to completely forget their previous words.
O' Lord, save us from Fitan (ie. trials, tribulations, turmoils, strife, etc.)

How it started:
"Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people."
Quran 7:81
How it ended:
"So, they were seized by the Cry at sunrise. And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay."
Quran 15:73-74
And the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever you find doing the deed of the people of Lut, kill the one who does it and the one to whom it is done."
(Tirmidhi, Sahih)
