My daughter asked me:
Since the matter of ad-Dajjal (The Antichrist) is known and explained to us by our Prophet ﷺ, how can some Muslims follow him upon his emergence?
I said to her:
"Among the consequences of sinning is forgetfulness of beneficial knowledge”, whereupon I recalled Ibn Taymiyyah's statement in his Majmou' Al-Fatawa:
"Among sins are those that cause one to be veiled from beneficial knowledge, or at least in part; in fact, they become a cause for forgetfulness of knowledge one already knows and confusing the truth with falsehood"
We see [many a time] scholars who fall into the exact matters they used to warn people of and they generated confusion among the people in the most crucial and vital matters pertaining to the Ummah. It is as though they were made to completely forget their previous words.
O' Lord, save us from Fitan (ie. trials, tribulations, turmoils, strife, etc.)
