🌐🔫🔫🔫 NATO wants 49 more brigades. That's about 196,000 soldiers, per Die Welt, German national daily newspaper.

While 82 combat brigades were considered sufficient in 2021, in the future there should be 131 of them. This is an increase of 49 of these large units, each of which has a strength of about 4,000 – 5,000 soldiers. This is at least 196 thousand more soldiers.

To lead and support these troops, the number of “combat corps” will increase from 6 to 15, and that of division commands from 24 to 38.

Robinhood Chief Legal Officer Dan Gallagher is emerging as a leading contender to head the Securities and Exchange Commission should Donald Trump win back the presidency, according to a dozen former top regulators, lobbyists and securities lawyers.

“He’d be a natural choice,” one former senior SEC official told MM.

But Gallagher — a onetime SEC commissioner who is known for his affability and political chops — may find himself sparring with the agency first.

The SEC is weighing a lawsuit over Robinhood’s swelling cryptocurrency business in a case that would mark the latest salvo in Chair Gary Gensler‘s crackdown on the $2 trillion market. The SEC is looking into whether Robinhood is operating an unregistered broker-dealer and clearing agency in the crypto markets. Charges are not guaranteed, but if the agency does sue, the resulting legal battle could thrust a new and awkward spotlight onto Gallagher — just as the race for the chairmanship heats up.

🇬🇧❌🇷🇺 Russia on mission to cause mayhem on UK streets, warns MI5

Russia's intelligence agency has been on a mission to generate "sustained mayhem on British and European streets", the head of MI5 has said, as he warned the UK faces the most "complex and interconnected" threat it has ever seen.

There have also been 20 Iran-backed plots since 2022, the director general Ken McCallum said.

He said the complex mix of terror-related threats and threats from nation states meant that MI5 had "one hell of a job on its hands".

A total of 43 late-stage plots to commit "mass murder" in the UK have been foiled since 2017, he said, involving firearms and explosives.

Mr McCallum said the security service's counter-terrorism work still mostly involved Islamic extremism, followed by "extreme right-wing terrorism".

But he added there was a "dizzying range of beliefs and ideologies" MI5 had to deal with.

"The first 20 years of my career here were crammed full of terrorist threats. We now face those alongside state-backed assassination and sabotage plots, against the backdrop of a major European land war," he said.

In a briefing at MI5’s counter-terrorism operations centre in London, Mr McCallum said in the past year, the number of state-threat investigations by MI5 had increased by 48%.
He also expressed concern over the number of young people being drawn into online extremism.

About 13% of those investigated for involvement in terrorism were under 18 - a threefold increase in the last three years, he added.
