🇬🇧🤝🇲🇺 UK renounces sovereignty over the Chagos islands. Hands them over to Mauritius

The UK has announced it is giving up sovereignty of a remote but strategically important cluster of islands in the Indian Ocean after more than half a century.

This includes the tropical atoll of Diego Garcia, used by the US government as a military base for its navy ships and long-range bomber aircraft.

The US-UK base will remain on Diego Garcia – a key factor enabling the deal to go forward at a time of growing geopolitical rivalries in the region between Western countries, India, and China.

"This is a seminal moment in our relationship and a demonstration of our enduring commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and the rule of law," the statement from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth read.

While we were discussing possible threats to Russia from the Baltics, a new North Atlantic Alliance exercise under the code name Rammstein Alloy took place over the former Soviet republics.

This is a planned event, the purpose of which is to test the readiness of air defense assets deployed in the Baltics, as part of the Baltic Air Policing mission.

The exercise took place over two days: September 30 and October 1, and involved fighters from NATO countries, including the air forces of Italy, Germany, Finland, as well as a NASAMS air defense system battery of the Spanish armed forces and F/A-18 fighters from Romania.

🔻The main point is to train and maintain the tone of NATO pilots in a crisis situation in the region. The planes maneuvered along the Kaliningrad region, Belarus and the Leningrad region and conditionally repelled the attack.

Training over the Baltic states has recently become more frequent, as have harsh and loud statements from the authorities of the three republics. The most prominent example is Estonia, which has taken on the role of leader in provocations towards Russia.

🔵❌💰 Coinbase to Delist Unauthorized Stablecoins in EU by December

Crypto exchange Coinbase plans to de-list any unauthorized stablecoins in the European Union by December 30.

Crypto companies are racing to comply with the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) rules, which require firms to be authorized in at least one EU country.

Tether, which is the largest issuer of stablecoins, has not managed to snag the necessary e-money license yet in the European Union.
