The global sports apparel market, once dominated by functionality, is now rapidly merging with high fashion. The market recorded USD 211,57 billion in revenue in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 298,06 billion by 2032 (CAGR - 4,41%), with luxury and designer collaborations driving double-digit growth within premium segments.

Fashion brands are recognising sports teams as powerful lifestyle ambassadors capable of connecting with younger, culturally engaged audiences. Clubs like AC Milan, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are no longer just teams - they are global style platforms.

Mr Simon Jacquemus outplayed everyone... again. Liline, the designer's grandmother, became the first brand ambassador. It's a genius move, very in line with brand strategy and, as it was commented by Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert, "it makes so much sense in this non-sense ambassador war".

The 'Upside Down' world of fashion is the simultaneous coexistence of the Uniqlo collection produced in Bangladesh in collaboration with JW Anderson brand, with the designer's photo on the store shelves, and Dior's Haute Couture collection by Jonathan Anderson made in Paris.

Maison Margiela just released a simple yet brilliant project called MaisonMargiela/folders. Ahead of the Fall-Winter 2026 show in Shanghai and the series of exhibitions, the brand is publicly sharing the Dropbox folder with the internal files, giving access to working documents, from planning to execution of the upcoming events in China.

As of now, the first of seven folders is ready with the contents, 349 MB of files for study, including archive photography by Giovanni Giannoni, Marina Faust​, and Melanie & Ramon. The fashion show is scheduled for April 1st, giving us about two months to follow the brand's files release and study the brand codes in the meantime.

The files transparency is a new trend? ...

The resume of Demna's first Gucci fashion show is that the brand will continue to sell handbags. It appears to be impossible to walk the streets in the newly shown women's shoes, while the ready-to-wear collection will look good on the customers of XS or S sizes.


The following is the current brand's revenue breakdown by product category:

The Gucci total revenue in FY2025 reached €5.9 billion, down 22% year-on-year. This places performance broadly in line with FY2017 (€6.2 billion), a period that had followed a sharp acceleration from €4.4 billion in FY2016.
