#PhodongMonastery (or #Phodang) is a #BuddhistMonastery in #Sikkim, India. It is located 28 kilometres from #Gangtok. It was built in the early 18th century but an older monastery had pre-existed the current one.
9th Karmapa was invited by the king of Sikkim, where he founded three monasteries : Rumtek, one of the most important monastery of the Karma Kagyu school of #Tibetan #Buddhism, Phodong and Ralang Monastery.
It was reconstructed by Sidkeong Tulku Namgyal, who was recognized as the reincarnation of his uncle, Sidkeong Namgyal, the abbot of the monastery. The line was to be continued by Palden Thondup Namgyal
The monastery has a residence of approximately 260 monks and has a numerous collection of some ancient murals.

The #PemayangtseMonastery is a Buddhist monastery in #Pemayangtse, near #Pelling in the northeastern Indian state of #Sikkim, located 110 km west of #Gangtok. Planned, designed and founded by Lama Lhatsun Chempo in 1647, it is one of the oldest and premier monasteries of Sikkim, also the most famous in Sikkim. Originally started as a small Lhakhang, it was subsequently enlarged during the reign of the third Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal and Khenchen Rolpai Dorjee in the year 1705 and consecrated by the third Lhatsun Chenpo Dzogchen Jigme Pawo in the year 1710 C.E. The monastery follows the Nyingma Order of Tibetan Buddhism and controls all other monasteries of that Order in Sikkim. The monks of this monastery are normally chosen from the Bhutias of Sikkim.
The more than a century and a half year old Ringhem Choling Monastery above #Mangan was extensively damaged in the 18 September earthquake with 70% of the structure, including statues inside the monastery, having crumbled away.

The #KoldamDam Hydropower Project commonly known as #KolDam, is an embankment dam on the #SatlujRiver upstream of the #DeharPowerHouse. It is 18 km from #Bilaspur off the #Chandigarh-#Manali Highway (NH-21) near #Barmana, #HimachalPradesh. The main purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and it will support an 800 MW power station. The dam was constructed by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

Ngadak Monastery exudes with charm and spirituality. This #monastery located at a short distance from the main town of #Namchi was built during the reign of Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal by Tensung Namgyal as the palace for Her Highness Pendi Ongmu. Today, you can notice the monastery is supported by iron railings, and a new #Gumpa is also being constructed as the old structure suffered damage due to the earthquake in the 17th century. #Ngadak is one of the oldest #monasteries in Namchi and it is anapt place to seek peace and meditate amidst nature. It is said that, whoever visits here has to make a promise to return again to the Gumpa. In fact the name, Ngadak itself means promise.

New Ralang Monastery or Ralong Palchen Choling is a #BuddhistMonastery of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism in southern #Sikkim, northeastern India. It is located six kilometres from #Ravangla. #RalangMonastery has an extensive collection of paintings and thangkas.
The old #monastery underwent reconstruction in 1975-1981 and in 1995, this new monastery, known as Palchen Choeling Monastic Institute was built by the 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoche, which retained its Tibetan architecture. The older Ralang Gompa or Karma Rabtenling monastery is located close west of this new monastery.

The fort is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) long and is about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) wide. The fort was originally occupied by Nikumbh Rajputs.In 1492 Khanzada Alawal Khan won Bala Quila from Nikumbh Rajputs to stop practice of human sacrifice. It was re-constructed in 15th century by the Hasan Khan Mewati. In the following centuries it went to the Marathas, and to the Kachwaha Rajputs.
The tomb of Fateh Jung (who was one of Shah Jahanβs ministers), is a five-storeyed monument constructed in 1647. It is also known as #FatehJungGumbad and is located near the railway station in #Alwar. It is an imposing structure that is visible from far away. #FatehJung was a Pathan warrior and was related to the Khanzada rulers of Alwar. His tomb is an artistic marvel and is a blend of different styles of architecture. It is dominated by an enormous dome, and the minarets exemplify its beauty. The walls and ceiling have raised plaster reliefs, and fine calligraphic inscriptions can be seen on the first floor. It is a big delight for architecture lovers to see this stunning monument in a lesser known part of Alwar.

#LohagarhFort (or Iron Fort) is situated at #Bharatpur in #Rajasthan, India. It was constructed by Bharatpur jat rulers. Maharaja Suraj Mal used all his power and wealth to a good cause, and built numerous forts and palaces across his kingdom, one of them being the Lohagarh Fort (Iron fort), which was one of the strongest ever built in Indian history. The inaccessible Lohagarh fort could withstand repeated attacks of British forces led by Lord Lake in 1805 when they laid siege for over six weeks. Of the two gates in the fort, one in the north is known as Ashtdhaatu (eight metalled) gate while the one facing the south is called Chowburja (four-pillared) gate.
The Ganga Mandir, which resides within the heart of the city of #Bharatpur is one of the most beautiful temples in #Rajasthan. In it lies the surprising deity of Ganga Maharaj fabricated from pristine white marble. Maharaja Balwant Singh started out building this temple inside the mid-19th century. However, he had a very particular request that required all of the prosperous inhabitants of the city to donate one monthβs pay to assist in the direction of the templeβs introduction.
#LalgarhPalace is a palace and heritage hotel in #Bikaner in the Indian state of #Rajasthan, built for Sir Ganga Singh, Maharaja of Bikaner, between 1902 and 1926. #LaxmiNiwasPalace is a part of #Lalgarh Palace but it has been given on lease and recently is being used as a heritage hotel. The palace was built between 1902 and 1926 in the Indo-Saracenic style. The building was commissioned by the British-controlled regency for Maharaja Ganga Singh (1881β1942) while he was still in his minority as they considered the existing Junagarh Palace unsuitable for a modern monarch. Ganga Singh decided that the palace should be named in memory of his father Maharaja Lall Singh.
Shri Laxminath is one of the oldest temples of Bikaner. It graces the sacred sanctum of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Other then the beautiful idol, this temple is embellished with exquisite art-work in silver. Festivals like Janmashtami, Nirjala Ekadashi, Ramnavami, Diwali and Geeta Jayanti are majorly celebrated at the temple and one must not miss visiting the temple during these festivals.
The #VarahaTemple at #Khajuraho enshrines a colossal monolithic image of Varaha, the boar incarnation of #LordVishnu. This temple depicts Varaha as a purely animal form. The statue of Varaha is 2.6 m long and 1.7 high. The sculpture is colossal and monolithic and made of sandstone. The sculpture is carved with numerous figures on its entire body.

Rudranath clutches a special importance in the heart of Lord Shiva's devotees. Amongst the 'Panch Kedar' (Rudranath, Kedarnath, Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar) Rudranath is a far-flung temple situated in Garhwal region in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. The place is surrounded by the lofty Garhwal Himalayan Mountains and is located at an elevation of 3600 m. It is said that this important Hindu shrine was built in 8th Century AD and is said to shelter the face of Lord Shiva.
