Five Spanish Franciscans, one brother and four priests, who preached to the natives of Georgia, USA, were killed in 1597. A baptized native, criticized for polygamy, led a group of unbaptized natives to kill the friars. SD Pedro de Corpa was killed on September 13, SD Blas de Rodriguez on September 16, SD Miguel de Añon and SD Antonio de Badajos (the only brother) on September 17, and SD Francisco de Verascola on September 18.

Mothers, concentrating on household duties, should work primarily in the home or in its immediate vicinity. It is an intolerable abuse, and to be abolished at all cost, for mothers on account of the father's low wage to be forced to engage in gainful occupations outside the home to the neglect of their proper cares and duties, especially the education of children.
