Don’t be a stay at home mom, be a housewife.

Don’t be a corporate drone, build a home.

I was asked recently to explain the difference between a stay at home mom and a housewife. It’s really a connotative difference more than anything. Stay at home mom is a term coined by media Jews to explain women “given the option” of being a wife and mother as a primary career. It’s associated with lazy wine moms who take their children to public school and spend the day drinking and shopping or lounging. They generally are also seen as the “it’s ok to be a train wreck” types, or trophy wives that don’t do much.

A housewife evokes a hard working woman who puts her family and household first and in good order, but also takes time to manage and care for herself so that she remains fresh and presentable for her spouse and in good spirits for her children. A housewife’s work is never done, but she is happy to do it and loved and appreciated by her husband and children, a paragon of her community and an example for other women.
